- Flushed and replaced coolant.
- Cursed up a mighty storm when the radiator starting leaking a half-hour later.
- Ordered new radiator
$*@$&!!!
I flushed and filled the radiator because I had noticed that my coolant was a bit brownish red and had lots of sediment in it...
And then about 30 minutes later, the radiator decided that it was finally ready to spring a leak (where the plastic tank meets the core at the front on the driver side--which is apparently the same place that 80% of other Miata guys have had their radiator start to leak). I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, since the plastic endcap which should have been a black color had faded to a nice light brown color from years of heat-cycling and stress. But dammit! Couldn't it have started leaking before I put new coolant into it? It was probably ready to leak already, but all the sediment had it clogged up until I flushed it all out. Dammit! Dammit! Bullshit! Dammit!
Anyhow, I've ordered a new all-metal 2-row radiator, which will be a little bit heavier but should also be a bit more rugged and offer much better cooling.
