2008.25.08 - Rear defroster tab

Aug 25, 2008 17:57

- Discovered that the tab for the ground connection on the hard top's rear window had been superglued in place rather than properly soldered as it had been from the manufacturer
- Filed all of the super glue off and attempted to re-solder the tab to the defroster area
- Failed. (;_;)

::sigh:: Yet another failure.  The defroster tab must have come loose at some point and a previous owner of the SnugTop apparently just superglued it back in place.  But since superglue doesn't conduct electricity (at least not very well), the defroster was not working.  I cleaned up the tab and the area that it is supposed to be attached to, and then attempted to solder them back together.  Unfortunately, the solder would NOT adhere to the defroster material (although it did seem interested in sticking to almost anything except for the place I needed it to stick).  I finally gave up and decided to try and get some "Permatex/Loctite 21351 Rear Window Defogger Tab Adhesive."  Hopefully I can pick some up from work tomorrow rather than having to order it over the internet.  The NAPA p/n would be: BK 765-2634.
