2008.24.08 - Fixed Antenna (Followup)

- Purchased and installed "chrome" antenna hole cover
- Changed my mind and put the white cover back in place
- Installed newly fabricated spare tire fastener

Well, after driving around for a few weeks with the wire antenna in the trunk lid rather than a traditional mast, I'm reasonably pleased with it.  On a clear day it performs quite nicely.  On a stormy day it's a little bit more spotty than the OEM mast, though not terribly.  Unfortunately it gets absolutely no AM radio reception.  =(  All in all though, I plan to keep it this way for a while until I can source a '92+ fixed antenna mast.

I also picked up a chrome version of my antenna hole cover yesterday, thinking that it might look a little bit nicer than the mis-matching white colored cover.  I installed it today and almost immediately decided that the white looked better. Although the white seems somewhat out of place and doesn't quite match, the chrome version is just way too conspicuous and draws the eyes right to it.
