My professor extended the deadline of one of my projects to next Tuesday, but since I'm like 85% done with it I'm like YEY FREE TIME~ I realized that I haven't uploaded a scenario in a while, so I thought this was a great opportunity to do so :D
Scenario #005: Jaejoong, having never been exposed to other alien races, finds his life changing after being bought by a vashna-zhi, a high-profile politician of the Vruthazhi race.
Year 8041 C.E. (a.k.a. 5893 Fall of Man)
Milky Way Galaxy, Solar System 5810-30
Planet Earth, Archipelago-YK, Sector 53
Jaejoong looked up when he heard a whistling sound from above him.
He had been working at the rice fields where his family was assigned to work and contribute to the vastly deteriorating human economy. With the way Earth was now, there were just too many humans and too little fertile soil, so the humans that were left on the planet (the ones who couldn’t afford to move to other territories) had to work on a farm or ranch to make sure everyone had something to eat. Jaejoong heard stories of humans doing more extraordinary things in the past, but making anything other than food would be a waste of resources now.
That’s why, when Jaejoong saw a huge, extravagant-looking space ship hovering thousands of miles above him, he wondered to whom it belonged. Only a few humans on planet Earth were allowed to own ships-owners of wet markets and fish ports, usually. There were space shuttles used for alien tourists, but only alien foreigners owned them. And Jaejoong never even saw one in the flesh.
Not that he would want to. He was fine where he was.
Losing interest in the foreign vehicle, Jaejoong resumed work in the paddies. He was about to cut a stalk of rice when he heard someone call him from behind.
“Jaejoong!!”
He stood up from his bent position and turned to look at a girl wearing similar clothing as he was. She pushed away her satgat so that it was hanging on her back. She looked exhausted.
“We’re being called to the town square. Mom and dad are already there, we’re waiting for you!” She yelled, sounding out of breath and slightly panicky.
“What’s wrong?” Jaejoong yelled back, eyes narrowing in confusion and worry. He didn’t like her tone.
“Never mind! You need to come with me, now!” She said before putting her satgat back on and running back in the direction where she came from.
Jaejoong kept calling her, but she continued to run. His gut told him that something was very wrong, and that he shouldn’t go.
But-
He stepped on the dike and got out of the paddy. He removed his satgat and started walking in the direction of the town square, deciding to figure out what the fuss was all about so that he could get back to work, dammit.
The whistling sound never stopped.
“What’s going on? What are they doing here?”
“This isn’t a tourist spot, what business to they have in our little town?”
“Businessfolk, perhaps?”
“That ship looked too fancy for just business!”
“Are they finally going to take away Earth, too?”
“This is dreadful, dreadful-so very dreadful.”
Jaejoong raised his brows at the mixed exclamations he overheard as he made his way towards the center of the town square where he knew his family was. A particularly loud woman was coming up with theories with her friends, and something she said caught his attention.
“I’ve heard about ships that look like that-ones that look like they came from the Sun!”
“What are they? Who’s riding them?”
“I don’t know-all I know is, when one visits, they usually take some of us back with them.”
“You can’t mean-“
“Slavery ships?!”
Everyone around the group gasped and joined in on the conversation, all spouting their own crazy theory or assumption. Jaejoong just shook his head and snorted.
Really. Slavery ships.
“Jaejoong!”
He heard a woman’s voice, and he turned to his left to see a woman standing next to her sister, and both of them were waving frantically at him. He rushed to their side and the woman immediately hugged him to her chest, making him squirm and gasp.
“M-Mother, what are you-“
“Are you hurt, my boy?” She asked, panicky. The middle-aged woman touched his cheeks, shoulders, arms. “Did you hear anything strange? Did someone talk to you? Oh dear, please tell me you heard nothing-“
“Mother, mother, relax.” He held her hands in his own and brought them to his chest. “Mother, I’m fine. Please calm down, you’ll tire your heart.”
“Never mind my heart, boy! It’s getting tired enough from all of these thoughts running in my head! Oh, the horror! Not my little boy, oh no-“
“Mother, what do you mean? No harm will come to me!” Jaejoong reassured her, and that seemed to calm her down. When she became quiet, Jaejoong looked around and asked, “So what is all this commotion about? Everyone in Sector 53 seems to be bothered by something.”
“There was a ship. And just not any ship-it was a non-human ship. An alien ship.” His mother replied quietly, taking back her hands and rubbing them together anxiously. “At first everyone thought it was a tourist shuttle that got lost, but it seemed odd because our little town is too far out in the boonies to be anywhere near even the nearest tourist spot. People started speculating. Then the mayor confirmed it to belong to high-profile aliens and there’s only one reason why the likes of them travel this far out in a human territory.”
The words “slavery ship” came to Jaejoong’s mind immediately after his mother explained, and he felt a pull in his gut that was not unlike what he felt a while ago.
He swallowed. “What reason is that?”
His mother didn’t reply immediately. She just looked at him, her large eyes seeming to want to swallow him whole. She held on to him again and shook him.
“Nothing strange happened to you, right? Right?” She asked, desperate for an answer. “When you were working in the paddies, you were just working quietly, right?”
He blinked at her, slightly frightened by her frantic behavior. He looked in the general direction of the rice paddies and recalled hearing a strange whistling sound, and looking up to find a ship hovering above the paddy he was in.
“I-“
A bell sounded from the tower, making everyone go quiet. Approaching the stage in front of the tower was a well-dressed man they all know to be the mayor, and he looked pensive as he carried an old megaphone in his hand.
He stood in the center and cleared his throat before turning on the device. It gave feedback, making him separate the mouthpiece to reduce the sound. He adjusted the cord and brought the mouthpiece to his mouth before speaking.
“Now, now, settle down, 53’s!” He began. Jaejoong’s eyes couldn’t help but stray to the number “53-582” showing on his neck. “You’ve all probably heard about a foreign, alien ship flying in our area. Rest assured, it is not a military or slave ship-“
Suddenly almost everyone let out a relieved sigh, as if holding their breaths. Some even started rejoicing and talking amongst each other good-naturedly. Jaejoong saw in his peripheral that her mother had also let out a deep breath, and she held on to his sister who also looked relieved. The mayor though, Jaejoong observed, didn’t seem to look relieved at all.
In fact, he was looking right at him.
The balding man sighed and continued, “However-“
That was enough to make everyone go quiet again.
“However,” He repeated. He was still looking at Jaejoong. “I’m afraid that, while the aliens who own this ship are not seeking to take in slaves, they are looking for someone to take along with them. That is, one of us will have to... leave. With them.”
Everyone gasped, and even Jaejoong’s eyes widened at that. He felt his mother holding on to him and his sister, and without thinking he joined the embrace, trying to drown out the outraged cries from his fellow 53’s.
“What is the meaning of this, Mayor Wu?!”
“How can you allow this to happen?”
“Which one of us is going?? Who?!”
“Why do they even have to choose?! What will happen to the chosen one?!”
“Have they even chosen yet?”
“Dear Lord, I hope they’re not going to go through us one by one-“
“They have chosen.” The mayor’s static-y voice cut through their questions, and the noise lulled. The mayor’s eyes turned back to stare into Jaejoong’s again, and the young man held his breath. The mayor looked sad, sympathetic, and most of all helpless. He breathed in and slowly brought up a hand to point a finger at him.
“And they have chosen Jaejoong.”
Hah, hah, wow. I joined the Sci-fi AU bandwagon :)) This isn't your typical "chosen to be the slave" or "human slave" fic though because it's TECHNICALLY not slavery. Uh. You'll all understand soon. When I continue this scenario :)) I'm probably gonna continue the cheating Yunho scenario next. Not sure, really. It's free game. :))
Hope you all liked it~
P.S. Look at the tags carefully and see what's different :P
