Picture based Drabble #6

[ooc; I should SO not be writing something right now, I am emotionally compromised but I couldn't help it because I got the idea so it had to be done. I do not own Alyssa, but I have stolen her. Muwhahaha. But really, she is used with massive amounts of love. MASSIVE! ALSO, PRETEND THOSE WINDOWS AREN'T THERE IN THAT PICTURE. THANKS VERY MUCH! this hardly counts as a picture drabble because i'm really just writing it so that it matches with other plans that Adler has in his mind. *being super sneaky.* but i decided to make it one anyway. enjoy!!]

"Adler!"

Adler turned around just in time to have a camera flash go off in his face. He blinked a few times, trying to get rid of the spots. "Uh..."

"Sorry, you and Leif are always holding this thing in front of your faces, I wanted to see if there was anything to it." Alyssa puts the camera down and looks at the preview of the image on the camera's screen, almost immediately laughing. "Oh, there is definitely something to it."

Adler flushed, stepping down off the stool and staring that the image himself. "Yikes. Erase that, please."

"I didn't know you wore glasses," Alyssa comments, totally ignoring his request.

"Only when reading, or writing, or painting." Adler steps back up onto the stool he is on and begins his work with the paintbrush again.

The room was nearly finished. Just another wall of paint, a row of mirrors, a couch and a few other homey touches and it'd be done. Adler had asked Alyssa over while Leif was at work to get her opinion on colors, and her help with painting. So far she had been not much help at all, but at least she was company.

"Why did you decide on this color again?" She asked as she started fiddling with a stereo in the corner.

"It will make Leif's eyes pop...and I think he likes it."

She stopped on a station playing 90s music and wrinkled her nose. "You guys are sickeningly adorable. Seriously, it makes me sick."

Adler just laughed and hopped off the stool, putting down his paint brush and paint pallete for a moment. "Do you think he'll like it?"

"Absolutely. He'll love it. He loves...." She hesitates, looking around the room to seem nonchalant about her almost revelation. "everything you get for him."

Nodding slightly, Adler looks at her for a moment longer before letting the subject drop, instead he pops a CD into the stereo, it instantly starts playing a slower beat and for a moment he looks almost sheepish.

"I want everything to be...perfect." He shuffles his feet around for a moment, looking extremely small for how big he really is, and then looks up with the utmost sincerity. "I need you to teach me how to dance."

A burst of laughter makes it out of Alyssa's mouth before she can stop herself, "I said I would help you but I didn't know you'd ask for the impossible, Adler."

"I know, but believe me, when I'm determined, I can get stuff done."

She thinks it over for a moment longer, but knows that she'll end up saying yes anyway. How can she possibly say no to that face when he is looking at her with his eyes so wide. "Alright. ....what is this for, anyway?"

Adler shakes his head. "You are too close to the V.I.P. in this situation. I don't trust there to be any secrets between the two of you. Now come on, we better get started, we've only a few hours until Leaves gets home."

Putting her arms out for Adler to step into, Alyssa stands at a ready. It takes nearly the whole time they had left but by the end of it, Adler thinks that he's finally got it down. He thanks her profusely and sends her home with a few unopened bottles of alcohol they had in their cupboard (they really did have too much).

He checks his watch about a hundred times as he showers, changes, does a few dry runs of the dance by himself and finally heads out to pick Leif up, the whole time mentally still going over everything he just learned. When he finally sees the top of the Dane's head coming into view, his heart picks up pace and his palms start to sweat.

"Hey babe..." He gives Leif a quick kiss on the cheek and then kneels down, on one knee. To say Leif looks shocked is an understatement. He just stares, wide eyed as Adler speaks. "Would you do me the honor, of having dinner with me on Saturday night?"

Yes, he knows that Leif lives with him and that every night Leif is home they have dinner together but this time was different. This time was going to be perfect. This time was going to be special. This time was going to be romantic.

He never expected any other answer, but his heart can't help but skip a beat when he hears Leif say "Ja. I'd be delighted."
