“Kanda,” she whined, tugging lightly on the elbow of his long sleeves. “Kanda, I’m bored.”
“Then go find something to do,” he said, totally indifferent. His voice was deep and sharp, though it was too exasperated. Rinari knew Kanda was a naturally crabby person, but she also knew that he sometimes forced anger into his tone simply for the sake of keeping up his act. She knew now was one of those times. Kanda still didn’t look at her, even when she reached up and tried to turn his head. The moment her small hands touched his cheeks, his cheeks became colored, even though he quickly tried to cover it up with a great big scowl. “Go find something to do that doesn’t involve me in any way.”

In the end, he had been persuaded into baking a cake with her.
“Kanda, do you want to lick the bowl?” Rinari asked, holding out said bowl to him. She wasn’t smiling, but you could tell just from the look in her eyes that she was content. That, and he knew for a fact that she was all out of grins. She had been smiling so hard earlier that her face was surely too sore for her to even dare and try to do anything with her mouth other than a neutral expression.
He leaned forward, took the bowl from her, and licked some frosting from her cheek. "Sweet," he murmured as he walked out of the kitchen, bowl in hand.
