oh gally....oh gally..
Oh how things slowly spiral...
Okay, so you know I am living at Gally for free in exchange for me volunteering at MSSD a few hours in supervising breakfast and in the tutor center. I told my coordinator here thats fine with me, you know. I don't mind helping out for free room and board. But that I would have alot of work to do for student teaching so I wouldn't have a lot of hours. Also, I would be really busy but that I'd be willing to help out when I was available. So, I think everythings all set up.
Well, then I had a mtg yesterday with the lady who is helping me with all that. She proceeds to give me a schedule of Breakfast Duty where I am already on the schedule and assigned certain days. I sat there listening, controling my need to burst out in rage. So, overall it was everyday for three weeks altogether out of the whole time that I'm here. That's not too bad. I said okay, calmly, that would work out fine with me. Then she tells me that I am supposed to meet another lady LL in the tutor center on Monday night at 8pm. She tells me that I am supposed to be the COORDINATOR OF THE TUTOR CENTER!!!!! WTF????? My jaw drops and she begins to explain that I will be working there every M,W,Th night from 8-10pm coordinating everything. I tell her, I'm sorry, there must be some misunderstanding. I never agreed to work in the tutor center on a regular basis. I told them I could help out every once in awhile. There is no way that I can consistantly do that. I have too much to do I have too many requirements for student teaching, and that will be too overwhelming. She basically says she's really sorry, she had no idea. She doesn't know anything about the tutor center except that I am supposed to be coordinating it. LL is in charge of it. So, she suggest that I talked to her about it on Monday night. Okay, that's fine with me. This lady can't do anything about it.
Then I ask about my meal plan. Mind you I have been eating here on Jenne's meal plan since I got here. It hasn't been really that bad, because I have only needed to eat supper since I am working all day and it was only 3 days last week. REGARDLESS....So, she tells me, no I don't know anything about your meal plan. If I was here without Jenne I would be starving!! I tell her I was supposed to get free ROOM AND BOARD in exchange for volunteering. Right now I have not gotten anything but a room. No one seems to know anything about a meal plan and I was told that if I want to eat in the Gally cafeteria then I will have to pay myself. I told the lady that had I known I would need a meal plan then I could have asked for more in student loans but since I was told everything was covered I didn't and now it's too late.
Blah blah blah...she's really sorry, she can't help me...and I should talk to my coordinator here. So, that's my next step. Come Monday, we are going to have a nice long chat.
