I requested to join the breastfeeding community here on LJ but I'm wondering if someone knows the answer to my questions in the meantime. How late is too late to teach baby to latch on to the breast? (example: someone decides not to BF then changes their mind and wants to). Also any advice on how to get baby to open his mouth wider and stop ( Read more... )

So, the baby has been breech for a long time now. Not a big deal before but, now that I'm getting close to the end, I'd like to do whatever I can to get him to flip around. I talked to my OB about it the other day (she actually brought it up) and she told me how they can try to move him from the outside if he's still like this at the end. I had my 4th (and hopefully last) ultrasound of the pregnancy yesterday. After all the measurements were taken my boy is weighing in at 7lbs 1oz (I'm 35w 4d). The doctor said that's a little ahead of schedule but not terrible. My OBGYN said he wouldn't suggest a c-section until the baby is 10+ pounds, and since I'm being induced about 2 weeks ( Read more... )

So I've been feeling really down lately, and scared of the whole childbirth/labor/delivery thing. Well last night we went on our hospital tour and I have to say I'm feeling a TON better.

I know this community is full of a lot of people doing natural childbirths (which I'm insanely jealous of, by the way :)) but I've known since before I ever thought of having kids that I would never have a natural childbirth.
