I gave birth to my amazing, wonderful, adorable little girl 4.5 months ago via emergency c-section. Long story short, I was hoping for a natural birth with a midwife in a free standing birth center. Blood pressure crept up starting at 34 weeks, I was put on meds at 36 weeks, became pre-ecclamptic and then full on ecclamptic at 41 weeks and delivered at 41w1d. I was quite overweight to begin with, and, though I still am overweight, I’m about 15 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight. My blood pressure seems to be in check with no meds.

Now that you know all that, let me get to the point. I love my baby girl soooo much, I can’t even put it into words. But I feel like there’s something missing. I want another baby, and my husband agrees. We’re going to wait a little longer, for a couple of reasons. First, I want to lose as much weight as I can between now and my next pregnancy. Second, I feel like I need to give my incision more time to heal fully. My questions are completely unrelated to one another. First, tell me your favorite and least favorite things about having children less than 2 years apart. I’m thinking we’ll wait until at least April to start trying, which, if it worked the first try, would put our kids 18 months apart. The second question is about blood pressure and pre-ecclampsia. We’ll be going for a HBAC for the second kiddo, so for those of you who had pre-e the first time, did you dodge it the second time? Since it didn’t set in for me until past my due date, am I less likely to fall victim to it again? What are the odds that I’ll get it again? Lastly, if you avoided it for your second pregnancy, was anything different when you got pregnant, such as weight, diet, exercise, etc.?

Thanks, and sorry for the novel.
