Yeah, I keep getting that. Whose business is it anyway? "No, I never wanted children and I don't want this one, but I'm having it anyway. You want it?"

Whew! I'm glad you got the humor. For some reason, I thought it might not come off as sarcastic!

Im a waitress and my customers seem to think they can ask anything they want. Such as:

Do you know who the father is? (no...because im a waitress i automatically sleep around..)

Are you married? Are you getting married?

Do you go to church? You better start reading the bible... (for some reason i need to become religious because i am bringing a child into this world??)

I'm a waitress as well. Customers talk down to me because I don't have a great job, I'm young, they assume I am uneducated, and they assume I am unmarried and got pregnant by a flavour-of-the-week.

I am SO sick of having to go through my speech of "My HUSBAND is a NURSE and we are very EXCITED about our child. I'm going to be very busy between being a mother, wife, and COLLEGE STUDENT."

Ugh. I hate their assumptions, and I hate having to make sure all of my "bases" are covered when I talk to them.

Oh definitely. I worked in food service for about 7 years, during which time I was in college educating myself. People thought I couldn't add and must have been some sort of idiot which explained my food service job, in their heads that is.
HOWEVER.
Since food service I have sold cell phones and mortgages, and neither one of the two are NEARLY as hard and demanding as food service was! When I get applications from people at work now (I am currently doing mortgages) and I ask them what they do at their job food service people are always able to give you a LIST. They say "oh well I'm a waitress but I also manage, clean, do cash handling..." I almost always say "oh, so you're superwoman, huh?"

I have to give a similar speech. "yeah my husband and I moved over here so he could go to school. I work here full-time and go to school full-time so it's a decent challenge but I've managed to uphold my 3.7 pretty well." But at least people don't treat me NEARLY as bad as they did when I worked food service!

You pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I'm a full time student and not working, and I look VERY young. As soon as people ask this question I also feel as though I have to include the fact that my HUSBAND is in active duty MILITARY, I am a graduating senior, I am looking into LAW SCHOOL...and ALL of this shit that is basically none of their business. I don't know why I feel I have to justify bringing my little girl into the world. But now I feel better :)

One of my friends retorts "when are YOU going to have kids?" bonus points if it's a little kid or an older person ;o)

Good one!

I picture myself getting more cantankerous. I pity da fool who touches my tummy once it gets big if I don't know them well enough to invite into my home. My plan is to reach over and start rubbing the strangers' bellies and watch them recoil, and say, "oh, you don't like me touching you like that?"

Being in the Navy, I did get asked if I got pregnant on purpose to avoid deployment...yeah...that is definitely not the case. I was actually looking forward to going on deployment for 7 months before I found out I was pregnant. As you said, this baby was unplanned but definitely welcomed.

lol there are easier, less life-changing ways to avoid deployment LOL
people don't go into the Navy not prepared to be deployed...

The very sad thing is that there are some girls that do that. They get off the ship and some get an abortion and some will keep the baby. It's times like that that I wish the world would require a license to bear children lol. I mean, there are some people out there that are having trouble getting pregnant or can't have kids at all, and these girls are using pregnancy as an excuse to get off a 6 or 7 month deployment...I think it's ridiculous!!

GROAN!
Yes, it's nobody's business! My husband and I are in the same boat. Baby is coming 2.5 years earlier than planned, but it was still planned. Do they want to know what position we were in when we conceived too? I mean, really!

yeah lol we were joking about that one too. "I think she was on her stomach.."
I mean who asks you if your baby was planned anyways?!
