Gallifrey 2013 Report Pt 2

Jun 05, 2013 19:39

Soooo, SDCC decided to open reg at 9:00am that morning. To the lobby I trekked with
chynoi. Of course the lobby internet was craaaaawling. While Jey and I doubted our ticket getting
1ucifer asked the concierge about buying Disney tickets, if we bought them online could we print them here. And to facilitate that, they gave us internet in the room for freeee~ yay how nice. So we trekked to the room! Long story short, I had issues but was scared to press refresh after SDCC’s whole DO NOT PRESS REFRESH thing. But.
mollypocket got my ticket <3 So I guess I’m going to SDCC this year! I think it might be my last year for awhile, it’s such a hassle. But we’ll see how I feel after the con 8D

Then to breakfast!

We walked over to Denny’s a few blocks away, and I had one of their “fit” options and it was actually really good.

Then back to the room!

(so exciting thus far, I know)

Changing happened!
aralias got Pertwee’d up, though my head is too small so neither of my wigs fit her. Probably more comfortable that way anyway 8D (also, the pic I took was blurry, so you don’t get to see her in her Pertwee glory ;_;)

I put on Jo and took foreeeeever with the makeup and felt super like a drag queen. Not just because of the makeup though, there’s a lot of understructure goes into making me look more girly. Add gogo boots to the mix aaand, drag queen.

(I didn’t take this! I don’t know who did, it was gleaned from flickr I think and I forgot who from, so if you know, please lemme know~)

Found a lovely Three who I felt very awkward around, because my gogo boots make me 6’ even I think. So I end up sort of slouching and leaning and thinking short thoughts. In future, I need to just feel awkward and not say “I’m a giant, sorry for feeling awkward!” because then other people feel awkward too D: I don’t mind being 6’ really, just, Jo is what... barely 5’? So itty bitty and cute <3

Anyway, yay Delgado Master! My fave!

I told him not to smile next time, as it’s the opposite of menacing. Unless it’s a menacing smile. Which is never a bad thing.

June Hudson had her interview at 11:00, which we went to, and she was just as awesome here as before. Only as much as I enjoyed hearing about Blakes 7 costumes, I wish she hadn’t mentioned Avon’s silver tunic is actually leather, since I can’t afford that and would have made that one (in pleather) -_-

Also she went on a bit about a red outfit that *should* have had spikes on it, which they removed before filming, and I hadn’t gotten that far in the series. I have since seen it, and agree, the spikes would have made all the more awesome. ‘Cause otherwise, it’s just RED.

Also, I like spikes.

(A part of me wants to make this, with spikes...)

Somewhere in there we went off to do some TARDIS pics, sadly the ones I took of Lyn’s fabulous Leela were blurry :_; And they were cute too, with Van in his Jamie.

The next panel I went to was at 15:00, Dick Mills, and I can’t remember what I did in the interim. Presumably I ate lunch, thrilling, and wandered the dealers room multiple times. Oh! I do know I wanted to buy Fraizer Hine’s book, but from him so he could sign it and all. And I hadn’t wanted to do so bearded (as I was Friday, and would be Sunday) ‘cause I wanted to ask for a pic too.

Well.

I kept going over there, and he kept not being there.

The Dick Mills panel was suuuuper good. He had this prepared powerpoint, with clicky sound bits, and it sounded like this was something he’d given as a lecture multiple times. Anyway, I loved it.

Then we stayed for the next panel, because the one after that was the McCoy one. The middle one we sat through was a New Who panel of a bunch of different people who really didn’t have anything in common except New Who. But it still worked, and was an enjoyable way to pass time until.... MCCOY. Hilarious. I love this man. I can’t even describe.

After thaaaat we zoomed over to the classic companions panel :D

I love listening to Hines tell stories!

And speaking of Hines, sadly I never did get the book, but!

I did catch him for a pic after his Classic Companions panel, which was fabulous.

And then we changed! And went across the street to the Hilton for dinner with
sakurae, yay having quality time with friends <3

We came back for the masq, which was a TOTALLY full house, and we stood against the wall on the side.

Oh and Just A Minute was played while they were judging. But the judging took foreeeever I’m pretty sure. The game was amusing, mostly because of the players interactions with each other, and not so much the game itself. Also the crowd was massively involved. Which was at times both cute, and very annoying.

Wandered a bit after the masq, but a pretty short bit because at this time it was midnight or so and I was totally zonked.

Love it! She always has the best costumes, and so polished, I weep.

Sunday to cooome!
