Thanksgiving is exactly one week after my birthday. It’s on November 27. This leaves my Thanksgiving plans wide open. And, once again, because of my spectacular schedule Fall semester I can make my Thanksgiving Break even longer than usual. Anyway, that’s about all the thought I’ve put into that. I’ll worry more about it later when I can actually look into places to go and things to do.
I guess I’m going to Virginia to visit Will either the third or fourth week of September. Columbus Day is Monday, October 13 which means that Fall Break will be that long weekend so I’ll probably plan on visiting him then too. Ilang we should look into going down together since I’m guessing you’ll want to be visiting Mirco sometime this semester.
It’s funny to me that we observe Columbus Day in America but not Veteran’s Day. Why do we have school on Veteran’s Day? It makes more sense to me to support our veterans than to celebrate Columbus. I don’t really know that much about Columbus but didn’t he land somewhere in Central or South America…not even North America? Anyway, I guess it doesn’t really matter in the end.

My wall geckos are parents!!! They have successfully reproduced! Haha. I saw the little babies crawling around last night. They are so cute. I will try to take a picture if I see them crawling around again.
Pash came back today to pick up some things and then headed out to Mainalli again. Honestly, I like having the time to myself again. It was good to go around everywhere with him but now I am reveling in some independence where I can come and go as I please and do what I want when I want…more or less. I have 32 more days left in India. That doesn’t seem like a lot at all. I leave for Goa in 4 days. Then I will be in Goa for 3 days. I get back to Mundgod late Monday night. I think I will probably take a day to recover then I am going to Darwhad with the Italians on Wednesday for the Provincial Birthday celebration. We are all going to wear our sarees! It will be so much fun. I will be sure to take tons of pictures! So I guess after that I will call Sister Valentine and arrange to spend the next week with her in Mainalli. Then a week back at Mundgod to tie up loose ends and take a bus down to Bangalore to stay there for a week before I head back to Boston. When I break it up like that I think the time is going to pass really quickly, which, honestly, is good. The time will pass quickly but I’ll be getting to most out of the experience that I can.
Wow, my apostrophe key is busted. How did that happen?!?! You never notice how many time you want to use an apostrophe until you can’t, haha, like right there. I either have to type out can not or put in the accent mark and have spell check fix it. I will have to get that looked as ASAP. Weird. Yeah, it’s genuinely broken. Lame. Well, my computer only needs to make it through one more year of school then I want a new one anyway. So lame though.

The power will go out in fifteen minutes. It goes out at the same times everyday. The power people shut it off in order to conserve because there hasn’t been enough rain lately to generate the power they usually have. Wow, my apostrophe worked when I typed hasn’t…oh, wait, no it didn’t my computer just autocorrected. Hahaha. Darn. I got so excited. Stupid apostrophe. Anyway, shoot…I can’t remember what I wanted to write about. Why doesn’t it autocorrect `cant` ? Ugh, my apostrophe key isn’t just broken, it is freaking out. So now, on occasion, it simply starts typing a ton of apostrophes! This is not going to be a happy moment for me if it keeps this up. I am just going to go on as if the key is just having a bad day and hopefully tomorrow it feels better. Yeah. Oh, I took a shower today in the middle of the afternoon because I had come back from walking through the muddy streets of Mundgod and wanted all the dirt to go away. Anyway, I took out my contacts which means I have been wearing my glasses the remainder of the evening. Wow you wouldn’t believe how interested people are in the fact that I have glasses. I mean is it really that great? So then I get to explain that I usually wear contacts, blah, blah, blah.
Oh, and Violet’s boyfriend, Daniel, is here visiting. He’s really a hippie in the worst kind of way. Anyway, like six or seven of the older girls here at the school stopped by my room today because they wanted to see pictures of Will. Hahaha. I found this immensely entertaining but then it got so much better. When I laughed at their request to see photos of my <> boyfriend they went on to say <> then point at Daniel’s door <> hahaha. I am not making this up. Wow. And they made this little face of disgust. It was definitely the most hilariously entertaining part of my day. I just laughed and invited them in and told them that I had to agree -- my boyfriend is super. How annoying is it that I have to make quotation marks the French way because the quotation key is the same as the apostrophe?! Hahaha. I’m certain it had to be an ant that came and ruined my apostrophe key. There’s just no other explanation. Ants are sabotaging my life. Hahhaa. Just kidding. We have learned to peacefully co-exist. They stay off my bed and I try to ignore the fact that they exist everywhere else.
Oh, and Kirsten, remember when you said you were going to call me when you got back from St. Thomas? Yeah…I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure you’re back…unless you decided to permanently relocate…in which case you should still call me. I miss your face.

I stumbled upon some old music Jeremy Jackson sent me forever ago. It’s this band Shiny Toy Guns. I don’t know exactly how I would classify the music…it’s definitely electronic…um, yeah. Anyway, it’s good. I’ve been listening to it all day. But what I need to be doing is going down and playing with the kids. But I am finding it hard to motivate myself to interact with other human beings today. I kind of just want to keep working on my Tanner Presentation but I think it’s ultimately a bad idea for me to hole up in my room all day today.
It has been pouring rain outside all day. It was raining so hard early this morning that it woke me up. I’ve never heard anything like it before. It’s so good that the rain is finally coming. Everyone was worried the rice crops were going to fail because they were drying out. The rain these past few days has truly been an answer to prayers.
Oh a different note, I would love a cupcake right now.

I’m in a mellow mood that I can’t entirely explain. Ilang, you have an e-mail from me which kind of explains it a little. You should reply as soon as you can. I miss you.
India has been rainy which has kept the interesting things to a minimum. Goa is coming! Just two more days until I’m there! Wahoo! I’m pretty excited about it. Who knows what I will actually do there for three and a half days but I’m sure I’ll figure something out. There are supposed to be a lot of young people in Goa because it’s famous for its beaches so secretly I’m kind of hoping to meet some Americans. I’d really love to just lay out in the sunshine and have a conversation with a real human being for the first time in a month.
It’s amazing to think that I’ve gone so long without being able to have a effortless conversation. It’s either over the phone which is so unsatisfying or it’s with non-native English speakers so I have to constantly be explaining what I’m trying to say or talking really really slowly which is irritating. It takes a lot of energy to speak in one-word sentences. I feel a little like a caveman or something. The kids are always like, you dance. Photo me. Song. English song. You eat? Haha, it’s hard to explain but it’s like always trying to decipher some kind of code: do you want to see a photo of me or do you want me to take a photo of you or do you want to see a photo of yourself or would you like me to print off a photo of you (or me) and give it to you? All of these are viable options and all of these have been expressed to me at one time or another simply by the words: photo me.
You eat? Has been the most problematic though. I never know what to answer. I don’t know if they’re asking have you already eaten? Or would you like to eat? Both are expressed the same way so if I answer yes, I have already eaten and they were asking if I would like to eat then I get another plate of food brought to me which I don’t want to eat because I have already eaten. But, if I answer no, I haven’t eaten and they were asking if I would like to eat then I am hungry and have no food. Haha. Anyway, it’s not that big of a deal because I figure out how to get around it but it takes a lot of energy. Let’s just say I miss English…and boat launches…hahaha…still so good.
And, um, wow. Taylor Duke e-mailed me. Odd. What is his deal?
