3286: Teacher's Pet - Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy
Here is day six.
- Don't forget about the fanfic contest. I've got one entry so far! Looking forward to more. Oh... and don't do anything that could get your story deleted by the admins before I put the tallies together.
- Instead of posting a link of the day for today I am going to do something else. Do you guys remember the link of the day I posted a rant from wattpad and we were wondering how the writer making the rant came up with their statistics. A certain minion who has an account on both the pit and Wattpad sent me a pm recently telling me they figured out how the tags actually work on Wattpad and sent and example from one of their own stories admitting they felt sheepish for not knowing that instead of using the tags Hermione and Granger you use the tags hermionegranger. They don't know though if this changes the stats over on wattpad or not though.
- The Flashback Sue is interesting.

CONNECTION TO CANON: The story starts off with Hermione complaining about Ron, Harry and Draco. The writer gets points for admitting that Hermione finds Draco annoying. Upon meeting him she finds out that he wants her to follow her somewhere private and goes because he insists that he trusts her. "I did not want to ask you this, I actually refused to, but my parents were going to ask Dumbledore to get the best student in school to tutor me, and that, inevitably, would be you, Granger. […] My parents threatened to do it that way, but I told them, to save me the embarrassment and let me ask you instead." She is happy he admits she is the best student. It then slowly progresses from there. There are only three chapters and its just about the tutoring.
ORIGIN: Hermione gets a letter from Draco asking her to meet him after lunch one day.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: She's such a good student even Lucius wants to have her tutor Draco. (Well... she is that good of a student, but Lucius still wouldn't have her tutor Draco.)
NOTES: I obviously picked this one out because of the title like all the others for this week. When I opened it and started reading it the first thing that popped into my head was that despite the odd use of punctuation that this would only get a good or o.k. rating. Then came the part about the tutoring. The characterization also didn't feel right to me.
SAMPLE:
"Why?" She snapped.
"Because." Draco spat, she glared, "Just trust me."
After a few moments of studying his eyes, she loosened. He tugged away, getting her into an abandoned classroom.
"Now, why is it that you brought me here?" Hermione crossed her arms and stepped away, keeping her distance.
"I have a proposal," She gave him an odd look, but he continued, "After last year, my parents are worrying quite a bit about my grades." Hermione scoffed, but Draco continued, "I did not want to ask you this, I actually refused to, but my parents were going to ask Dumbledore to get the best student in school to tutor me, and that, inevitably, would be you, Granger." He snarled, "My parents threatened to do it that way, but I told them, to save me the embarrassment and let me ask you instead."
Hermione was lost for words. First, the fact that Draco was admitting that she was the best student in school made her ecstatic, second, that he admitted he wasn't a good student himself, and third, that he ask her for help.
"I would pay you a fair amount of money." He swallowed, "And if I don't get help, I'll get kicked off of the quiddich team." If it weren't for her better judgment, she would of sworn she had seen the look of desperation gracing his features. He looked pleasantly innocent, something Hermione never would of thought of him.
"Fine." She said, "I'll do it." Draco slipped a smirk onto his face, "But I have conditions."
