Please check out the Scavenger Hunt - Master Post. Here is day five of Blood Adoption theme for a couple of weeks.

Title: The Brother's Addams
Perpetrator: JayColin
Sue-O-Meter: Bad
Cover/Banner Art: None. It’s A03
Summary: “A month after the tragic events of 31 October 1981, Minerva McGonagall decides to pay a visit to Privet Drive and check on James’ and Lily’s sons… natural son Harrick and blood-adopted son Neville. She’s horrified at what she finds and resolves to place the boys with Lily’s aunt. She and her family are a bit mysterious and spooky, but they at least have two things the Dursleys don’t: love for family and respect for all things magical.” Of course, their names are changed to Neville Daemon and Harrik Draven Addams and they’re Blood Adopted into the Addam’s family.
Full Name: Minerva McGonagall for starters, but Harry and Neville on top of that. I mean, Harrick because we’ve yet another writer of Blood Adoption stories who thinks changing Harry’s name is the best thing since sliced bread. I wasn’t surprised to add Petunia and Vernon into this as I knew we were getting into a story where they are abused in a manner which makes your eyes roll, but I wasn’t expecting the severing of limbs. That honestly takes the cake of being out of character. Alice even shows up. Like, what? And the Addam’s family, though I’d have to argue they’re in character and as bizarre as one would expect, though they’re not always this same depending on the source material.
Sueworts House(s): Minerva is your Sparklypoo rescuer who just happens to be in the right but a Bitchiwitch because she is actually not in the right. Actually, let’s put everybody into the Bitchiwitch category because the Addam’s are involved.
Species: Not the canon characters.
Hair: n/a
Eyes: n/a
Markings: Vernon cut off Harrick’s right arm and Nevilel’s left leg at the knee.
Poessessions: The Dursley family apparently has a soundproof basement because the writer needed an explanation regarding why the level of abuse they are having the Dursley perform on the boys.
Connection to Canon: For some reason the writer thinks it is okay for Minerva to barge into Petunia’s home one day simply because she doesn’t believe the woman when she says that Vernon and the boys aren’t home. I mean, she uses the “Stupefy” and “Incarcerous” spells on her, but this is after she looks over the Potter family and realizes that James’ parents lost quite a few children before dying in a car crash of all things. Well, apparently because Vernon is mutilating the boys it’s suddenly okay for her to also use Avada Kedavra on Vernon. She and Poppy learn that “they’re magically bound to one another” and “basically the same as a pair of twisn born with the exceedingly rare magical disease known as Van Praternik’s Syndrome… they have to maintain constant skin-on-skin contact with another or suffer debilitating levels of pain, on par with or possibly even worse than the Cruciatus.” Minerva wonders why she’s never heard of if while in my mind the answer is clear - it’s utter nonsense. She’s never heard of it effecting children who aren’t twins. (Rolls eyes.) Thus they end up at the Addam’s family. Well, thinks get really crazy with Alice showing up and telling them not to trust Dumbledore and this really reading like a Addam’s family fanfic with a couple extra OCs tossed in. I couldn’t get past the second chapter.
Origin: From the title you should be able to tell that this is an Addam’s family crossover, which actually can explain away things like “involuntary and unnecessary amputation” and any number of horrific things happening in the story, but the problems start even before the boys are placed with the Addam’s family. Except, it’s not the Adam’s family doing this but Vernon.
Special Abilities: Minerva is allowed to infringe upon some of the Dursley family’s human rights because in the long run she turns out to be right in the end which in turn ignores the fact the Dursley family were never that abusive towards Harry in the first place.

Notes: Well, Neville being the Blood Adopted one is new. What’s not new is how these Blood Adoption stories ignore the basic rights of individuals, as if magical elements make people special enough of a snowflake for the law to be ignored. Of course, anyone who knows the Addam’s family know they’re their own brand of madness which is why this story ended up with a bad instead of an awful rating, but because they’re involved it never felt like it was at a Toxic level either. It’s still got the problems of plot holes and filling more like an Addam’s Family fanfic than a Harry Potter fanfic.

Sample:
“I’m not selling anything, Mrs. Dursley,” Minerva said crisply, as she placed her hand on the door and pushed it open wider, despite the resistance from Petunia. “I’m Professor Minerva McGonagall. Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts and I’m here to check on Neville and Harrick.”

Petunia visibly paled as she said, “They’re not home.”

“Really?”

“My husband took them shopping.”

“I see,” Minerva said, not believing a word. “Well, then you won’t mind if I come in and wait.”

Before Petunia could say a word, Minerva had her wand out and only inches away from Petunia’s chin, causing her to blanch even more. Whatever resistance she’d been giving to try and keep the door closed gave way, allowing Minerva to enter the house.

As she entered the front hall, she heard Petunia close the door and after a moment, she said, “They’re not going to be back for several hours.”

Turning on her heel and pointing her wand at Petunia, Minerva said, “I don’t believe you, Petunia. Just from your expression, I can tell that you’re lying, so why don’t you save us both some time and just tell me where they are?”

When Petunia didn’t say anything, Minerva said, “Fine, we’ll do this the hard way then. Stupefy! Incarcerous!”
