It's hilarious how the prose alternates between stattaco short sentences and elaborate purple prose. I must admit, I do make that mistake myself, but it's still jarring.
What's really annoying about this is that the character is really boring.

I'm honestly not sure whether the writer used the word naively for themselves of a reviewer did, but if it is the writer I've got to say admitting you're naïve about the whole thing doesn't help your case. They talk about defending their beliefs, yet what's really going on is someone pointed out the holes in said beliefs. That's not a mocking of ones beliefs, but simply pointing out the fallacies in the belief.
