SUMMARY:”Helping Harry unite the Hallows has unexpected consequences for Hermione and on the moment of her death, the spirit itself takes pity on her and sends her to Westeros where she is reborn as the twin sister of Margaery Tyrell.”
FULL NAME: Hermione Granger/Helenna TyrellSPECIES: She’s now the twin sister of a canon character of another series.

CONNECTION TO CANON: Hermione and others die, and is given a second chance. Hermione then spends three years learning about the new world she is and doing nothing. She also still has her magic. Nothing really happens in chapter three either except for meeting the Stark family. At the end, we get a statement regarding the character Arya. “Merlin does she remind me of myself when I was Hermione. I didn’t cae about boys or pretty close either. My greatest weapons were my mind and my books. I didn’t care about being anything other than the best at whatever I did.” Why would this change? In chapter four Hermione uses the cruciatus and killing curse, and the writer promises things will pick up. Except, those are not in character for Hermione as others noted. The story is kind of “yawn”, and during chapter seven we find out a ton of people are added in.
ORIGIN: We’ve got another story where Harry is master over death, which doesn’t match up with canon, but people think is a completely awesome plot device. I guess on the positive side it’s not just Harry dying and coming back. The question of why they all died though comes up. In fact, two of the reviews left this month on the story point this out as an issue, and another notes that Harry united the Hallows without Hermione’s help, a claim made in the first chapter.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: The whole dying and falling in fandom is overdone, although it used to be done mostly for OCs. Now I’m seeing a lot more canon characters dying and showing up in different fandoms. Hermione has an eidetic memory, which isn’t out of question, but isn’t the only explanation for her top grades, or why someone could remember all of that information. She isn’t quite herself, nothing seems to be really happening, and the claim is made that she helped Harry united the hallows.
NOTES: The writer’s profile contains some thoughts regarding the Harry Potter series. Some of it is justified, but number one and nine are the kind of things we see from people who don’t quite get the canon material, or perhaps the fact one really can’t use hindsight. My favorite though is number ten. There is a lot of thought put into what they’ve posted as well. I don’t think they’ve had enough negative experience with death fics to be squicked off them the same way they are off stories that bash the Weasleys, marriage law, veela, and soul bond fics.
I debated between giving this a bad and awful rating. The biggest crux for this particular fic comes from the fact there is no real purpose behind Hermione and the others being in the fandom, and nothing really happens. I mean, Hermione went for three years doing nothing, only thinking about getting used to her new surroundings. However, her not acting like her canon self even though she should be is another problem.
SAMPLE:
"One more chance, friend of my master," it whispered in a low slow rattling voice that sounded like old bones being knocked together. "One more chance."
Hermione had no idea what that meant and before she could even try to register it in her overly large brain, the figure pressed one of its bony fingers into the middle of her forehead.
Oh the horror of what came after that.
Hermione felt as if ice was ripping through her veins, tearing her skin apart as it became colder and colder. She was incapable of moving but she squeezed her eyes shut and prayed to die so that the horrible pain would be over and she wouldn't feel anything anymore.
The coldness increased until she felt the being was trying to turn into an icicle.
For some reason then, the brunette decided to open her eyes and the moment she did so, she saw the creatures yellow eyes staring back at her out from under the darkness of its hood.
The sensation was so shocking that for a moment she forgot the pain and just stared at it astonishment filling her up and forcing out the ice in her veins.
Who…Who are you? She thought.
"One last time," the creature whispered again. "One last time."
And then it did the unthinkable and pressed its finger even harder into her forehead causing Hermione to give a scream of pain.
The last thing she remembered before she closed her eyes and blacked out for good in the world she knew was the feel of the stones of the Great Hall now wet with her blood underneath her and the yellow eyes of the horrifying creature as it filled her with its terrible ice.
