The school had been large enough, and Shiraishi had prepared himself for being talked to a lot by both the night and day classes, but he hadn't quite prepared himself for the volume. The gutsy girls and boys that approached saying hello for the first time were starting to get on his nerves. Shiraishi was new to the school and could understand it, but he needed a moment. Excusing himself with a smile, he exited out of the hall onto it's lovely balcony with it's fresh night air and... "Ah," someone else was there. "Gomen-chai,"
The night had been indeed lively. Atobe had found himself escaping from it almost right away. He had danced with the ladies, but he had grown tired fast. So he had escaped to the schools balcony and enjoyed himself some blood tablets. Though enjoy was a wrong word to use. Once hearing a voice behind he turned around and looked. Atobe felt a smile upon his face and said politely: “Ah, Shiraishi. Please do not apologize… I don’t mind you being here.”
Ah, it was Atobe. Well, he seemed pleasant enough at least. "It's all a little overwhelming in there, isn't it?" Shiraishi turned his gaze back to the full room before stepping forward and coming to rest beside the other male. "Are all the events like this?" He was rather social, but that was ridiculous. Lord only knew how much difficulty someone of Atobe's stature had it, what with all his adoring fans.
Atobe nodded silently and gazed at the ground below them. Some of the students were chatting outside. “Since night class and day class don’t get to see other much there events are rather popular. Some want to see their favorite vampires and some just want to see us out of curiosity. Mostly guys come ask us stupid questions.” Atobe didn’t like the events because he would have to meet all his fans at once. He didn’t get much space with all of them present.
"It makes us seem untrustworthy, doesn't it?" Shiraishi asked, head turning to the side to watch Atobe for a moment. His own gaze eventually fell on the students below, but he didn't linger there for long. "Not allowing the two classes to mingle more casually, I mean. It would make the hype around us die out, and we'd be left alone." Shiraishi gave a light laugh. "Unless the principle wants us to be idols?" Whether or not they weren't supposed to be higher than the humans, it would, in that aspect, make them look more special.
”I don’t know what the principal is thinking”, Atobe said disapprovingly and drank some of his drink. “If the idea was to help humans and vampires co-operate this certainly isn’t helping. They either fear us or adore us - but they can’t get to know us well.” It had been a problem even since he was transferred to the school. They had never gotten a proper chance to interact with humans. “Though now that we have the livejournal system it’s getting easier, I assume.”
"I suppose the barrier has to be broken somewhere," Shiraishi hummed and nodded his head. And the system was entertaining to top if off, so it definitely wasn't a terrible idea. "Forgive my prying, but you don't seem full strength today," Hopefully Atobe would get what he was implying - which wasn't a power thing.
Atobe moved his gaze from the yard to Shiraishi and smiled rather weakly. It was easy to see that he wasn’t in his best appearance at that moment… for he did not have the strength to pretend. While Dan didn’t drink all too much - it was still rather energy taking. “It’s okay. I must apologize to you that you have to see me like this. My return to the academy hasn’t been all that great.”
"Don't apologize," Shiraishi returned the smile, though his was bit more full force. "Even the proud are allowed to have their off-times. You are no exception." Whether those words were the comforting sort or not, he wasn't sure.
”Actually, I am an exception. My father expects me to be graceful with everything I do. I have to be always on the full mode, even if I’d just gotten a punishment. Never let anyone down because I’m feeling a bit word-down. So being in this balcony is the only safe place to hide from my duties. If I go in, I have to be perfect in every way”, Atobe explained and then sighed. “But I don’t mind… It’s how I’ve been raised.”
"You don't have many close friends, do you?" Shiraishi asked. "Those are the ones you don't have to be perfect around," For as strong as Atobe seemed to appear on the journals, he finally got to see his - for the lack of a better term - human side. This was more refreshing than the side he liked to gently mock.
Atobe laughed silently. “I think I’ve managed to chase all the possible friends away from me. With the face I have in the eyes of the public… who wants to be my friend? Even the ones who knew me as a child hate me nowdays.”
"That sounds more like they're intimidated they wouldn't stack up against you," Shiraishi pressed his forearms to the balcony and leaned over it, looking down at the grass now. Even from this height he could almost see each individual blade. Then again, sometimes they eyes played tricks and made you see what you wanted. "Being your friend would seem a little intimidating, since you have that special light."
”I guess”, Atobe said lightly and took the last sip from his drink. He stared at his glass and felt it was unfair that Dan-sama could freely drink from him, but he couldn’t get fresh blood - or even attempt without getting yelled at. But he had learned his lesson - for now. “It’s a rather lovely night, isn’t it?”
"It would probably be nicer if there weren't clouds covering the moon," Shiraishi replied. He liked the moon - it was like their own personal son. Grated, not as nice as pictures taken during the day typically looked, but still a nice view none-the-less. "What do you do around here to entertain yourself after homework is done?"
”Nothing much. Nights here are boring. The main thing I do is walk around the yard and forest… possibly chat with other vampires. The only time I’m not bored is when I get to use my powers… but I can’t even do that too often”, Atobe said and yawned right after the words. “One of the things I hate about this place.”
Oops. Power using was a bad thing, and he'd abused that right the one night he showed Chitose his. Oh well. "What is yours, if I may ask?" One could never be too careful with those, so he didn't want to clash. Especially if they got into a fight, which wasn't very likely since they both seemed to have good heads on their shoulders.
Ah, some people did not know about his powers. It was actually quite nice to meet people who didn’t know everything about him. Silently Atobe froze the glass he was holding and showed it to Shiraishi. “Vampires sometimes call me Mr. Cold as Ice.”
Shiraishi laughed. Almost too loudly. His eyes darted to the hall to make sure no one noticed, then back to smirk at Atobe. "Well, apparently I'm your opposite." Shiraishi took the glass from Atobe, and within a moment the ice was completely thawed out, and a small puddle of water was now on the ground at their feet.
”Ah…” Atobe smirked brushed some of his hair away from his face. “Well, they do say opposite attract and I’ve been watching you ever since you came.” Whit that he moved his gazed back to the yard. “You’re an interesting man, Shiraishi Kuranosuke. And I think I can get along with you even though our elements don’t do well with each other.”
Atobe was starting to give him that feeling he had over the journals. The playfulness and gentle mockery he was so amused over. "Watching me? I feel flattered now," Shiraishi smirked and stood up straight. He wasn't leaving yet, but probably soon. It felt like the right time was approaching.
”You should, since not every new face gets my attention”, Atobe said with his regular tone. He felt a bit better now that he had a chance to talk someone like this. Slowly he turned to face the door. “Well, now that I’ve rested I could go and see if there’s someone who wants to dance before I return to my room… Shall we go the same way?” With a small change of volume and the tone of his voice he said ‘Thank you’ before he walked to the balcony door.
"No, I'll stay out here a few more minutes," Not that Atobe could see, but he gave a light wave at the other male's back. "See you in class, Atobe-kun." With a light smirk playing on his lips, he turned his attention to the moon to find it was a little less cloudy now, and allowed him to take a nice look. He could see some of the crater outlines, but he wasn't looking for anything specific. Shiraishi just liked it's glow.
