So, Portugal was awesome. The weather was perfect all week, mid 30s and clear blue skies. The villa was lovely too, plenty of room for us all, a private pool, a BBQ, etc. We spent a couple of days just chilling out by the pool, swimming and playing frizbee, spent a couple of days on the beach doing essentially the same thing, but also swimming out to explore some caves and clambering round the rocks. We also went to a marine park and watched dolphins, seals and sealions, and spent a whole day out at a waterpark. Some of the slides/rides were awesome. And that was about it. It was so good to be doing nothing in the sunshine. I really just needed to stop, and I feel so much better now, I feel all balanced again.
On the way back, our flight landed at about 1am and then it took over an hour for them to unload our bags. So I didn't leave for Spike's house til about 3am, eventually got there just after 5 to find him passed out and the last 4 people or so cleaning up after the party. So we had tea and chatted until Spike woke up enough to say hi, and then we all went to sleep. Lol. The following afternoon Spike and I went on a fairly epic trip across London, eventually spending about half an hour in the Science Museum before they closed (I love that museum) and then a little while in the new Summer Pavillion, and then a little while lying in the long grass in the park. And then I caught the train back t my parents house, spent the evening/night there, then got the train back up here the next morning.
That was a week ago, and since then I've been out a couple of times with people from work, worked a fairly insane amount and done very little else. Score.
Had a minor panic attack with money - set up a payday transfer to move disposable income to a seperate account so that once it's gone I can't spend any more, only to have it disappear from my pay account and not appear in the one I sent it to. And the stupid internet banking won't let you look at the details of the account where you sent the money to, only what you named the transfer. So I couldn't check the account number was right, and the banks helpline was closed. But fortunately it appeared this morning. So, it took them 5 days to process it, despite claiming on their website that SOs are processed immediately, 24/7. Lies!
My parents are coming to visit at the beginning of September. I'm quite excited for this - they haven't come to see me since I moved up here 2 years ago. I'm not sure yet where I want to take them (apart from for a meal at work, obviously) but I've plenty of time to decide in the near future.
AND in most exciting news, I'm going to see Taking Back Sunday on Sunday. This year has so far been awesome for gigs :-)
