So I guess a lot has happened since my last update.
Somewhat old news, but a pretty important thing was that I got accepted to the 1 year journalism program at Kings College which I will be attending in August. I was very happy to get into this program as it is very competitive, and it was the only journalism school I had applied to, and one that I really wanted to attend. Journalism as a career is the only type of work that I don't cringe at the thought of, so I can't wait to get started and hopefullly pursue this as my career.
I also completed my undergraduate at Acadia, and will be graduating on May 15th .. I suppose that is somewhat significant as well.
In even older news, I went to Ottawa during February break to spend time with my friends. Always such a good time up there, I have such amazing friends that I appreciate so much.
Here's a picture of me showing the closed sign who is boss. Oh no, it's not closed.. it's open! This is at the American embassy in Ottawa, I believe. Not pictured is me quickly scurrying off the chain shortly after the picture was taken in fear of being shot at for being on private property.
Here's a shot of myself, Brian and Jeff at the makeshift poker table in Matt's apartment. Hines looks like a monkey in this picture I do believe.
Marc and myself during the poker game we had. I'm obviously thinking quite deeply, and as such it's necessary I close my eyes. I'm 99% sure I outplayed Marc on this hand. Turned out to be a pretty epic poker game, we started around 12'ish, and myself and Matt ended up finishing our heads up battle at 6:30 am. I took it down.
Jeff demonstrating his skillz at poker. Hines seemingly enjoying it. Jeff had never really played before but he was showing the boys a trick or two ... Until he called an all in with J high.
Monica, myself, Brian and Matt in the bitter Ottawa night. I don't know why I insist on putting in pictures where I look completely ridiculous, but.. there it is.
This is the best picture of the lot in my opinion. All the guys at Minglewoods downtown, with Moni trying to sneak in the picture as well on the side. Notice Marc's scowl (bottom left), he was pretty mad at life that night, and then someone spilled beer on him, further compounding the situation. I apparently tried to ruin this picture by having my eyes closed, but settled for simply having the "I haven't slept in 2 days" look.
Matt striking a pose while I assess my next move in relation to the beer tower. Monica in the background - unimpressed with life.
Jeff v.s. Moe in some fooseball action at the bar. I'm fairly sure Moe (Matt's girlfriend) dominated everyone's lifestyles at fooseball. She is freakishly good.
The fooseball champion
Natalie has quite obviously said or done something hilarious.
Myself and Moe. Actually have my eyes open for this one.. hurrah!
I think Jeff looks like such a bad ass in this picture. I told him to use it as his MSN picture but he insists on using the one of him scoring on me in street hockey.
This is a picture from Brewer park. They have these sweet public rinks set up for shinny, and we definitely took advantage. A really sweet set up.
Well, that concludes the photographic journey through a trip to Ottawa.
In other news, Monica and myself have recently returned from our week long vacation to the Dominican Republic. I may post another entry in a couple days with more details on the trip, but suffice it to say that it was an amazing week and it is such a nice country.
Now that I've got this picture thing figured out I will probably post some more pictures from the trip at a later date. For the time being I'll leave you with this gem ....
A photographer was going around the island asking people if they wanted their picture taken with the monkey. Then you could buy it in the lobby that night if you wished. There were also parrots that Monica and I got our pictures taken with. The monkey was named Benny and he was so cute. I was happy with this and the other Domican photos because I had my eyes open and took a half decent photo .. yay! Moments after this picture was taken, Monica exclaimed "I think the monkey peed on me!!" Oh Benny .. I'm glad he wasn't on my shoulder.
That's all for now. Please leave comments.. this is the first time I've ever put a lot of effort into a LJ entry, so hopefully some comments will encourage me to continue with decent updates.
