A couple of weeks ago we happened to stop for dinner at the Elephant Walk in Waltham. I loved the catfish tonle sap - salty caramelized catfish marinaded in mushroom soy arranged on a banana leaf and nestled between a creamy coconut ginger sauce and a sweet pepper relish. Today marks the end of a decade: my last day as a 20-something. I spent the morning catching up on shopping for food and supplies. I found meringue powder, a necessary ingredient for various icings at a local party store that sells Wilton brand supplies. We're long overdue a journal entry after a period of hectic programming on a tight release schedule for Julian. In Februrary, we celebrated Valentine's Day by visiting the Museum of Fine Arts to tour the Egyptian section. An early taste of Winter came on the 18th and we stayed inside to watch the grey swirling of large wet snowflakes. Only traces remained by the next morning. In a strong effort to ignore the weather, we've enjoyed the first seasons of two tv series: Dexter and True Blood. Both were based on novels and a thrill to watch. Intensive foraging this past week has allowed us to feast on the fruits of the forest . Sulfur shelf dominated with the largest single (although unusable) find, estimated at around five pounds, spotted along a stone wall near the bog at Grassy Pond, and the highest find was spotted in a diseased tree along Route 2 just past the Concord Roundabout.
