Imagine my surprise when I drag my head out from under assorted pillows and other cozy items in my bed and discover it is 10 am! Oops! It was bound to catch up with me sooner or later...
Grab a quick shower, get everything packed up and ready to check out. Discover I missed a Text Message from Ann saying goodbye. (We knew it was likely I would miss her leaving, so had said goodbye the night before.) Sunday was the last official day of the RG. Usually there is nothing planned for that day, but Brigette and Jason wanted to make sure there was something going on. So they had a special prize basket drawing for whoever was in hospitality at 2 pm. There was still food to be eaten... kind of a buffet of what was left over. And of course, the official Keg Draining Party.
Mostly everyone sat around staring at each other, bleary eyed and exhausted. Much visiting, quiet talking, and just trying to pull ourselves together. We got the vehicles packed up. Stripped the various rooms that needed to be cleared out, awarded the gift basket to Ray, and the Hell's Mensans awarded their Party Animal award to Kevin, king of hospitality. (Hell's Mensans are a subset of mensans supposedly dedicated to partying and making sure other people have a good time.)
Around 4, Staci and I said our goodbyes and finally left. A quick stop in Greenville to satisfy the Taco Bueno craving and then on the road for home. At Texarkana we split up. I just drove her truck home, since she needed to come to Little Rock on Thursday anyway. Easy enough. Plan was for me to wrap her presents and have them waiting for her when she got here. No problems there.
I finally got home about 10:30 pm. The kids were thrilled to see me. Dave was Dave. He did say hello as I came in, but that was about it. *Shrug*
I have to say, I had a blast at the RG. It was tons of work, and I was just a glorified helper really. But it was a very good time. I loved all the people I met and the ones I remembered from last year. Its fabulous to see and spend time with the people I chat with on a regular basis. I won't lie either... its good to be appreciated for being me. I think that was exactly what I needed to really begin to feel like myself again after being sick for 3 months.
mensa,
thanksgiving,
