Usually I try to avoid Getting Mad At Things On The Internet, especially when other people are already Getting Mad. And I especially try to avoid this in the context of comics. But I saw this thing and just cannot believe it: wtf. ( Cut for Mad. )

Went to Santa Cruz on Saturday, visited my old LCS (Atlantis Fantasyworld, aw yiss) and got issue 1 of Nonplayer (so good, you guys! SO GOOD), the TPB of Cursed Pirate Girl (basically impossible to find), and a used copy of Destiny: A Chronicle of Deaths Foretold. So yesterday we got Charlemagne: By the Sword & The Cross, as previously mentioned. It is... pretty amazing. I mean, the whole thing is honestly quite ridiculous. And I was disappointed to find that it actually isn't very metal. Much more symphonic than symphonic metal - like an operetta, really. Too bad, as it could have easily been pushed ( Read more... )

Yesterday we got the new Hellboy volume, The Wild Hunt. I really feel like I ought to write a proper review of this, because WOAH. This is incredible stuff. It focuses on British/Celtic myth, but woven into the Hellboy mythos, with lots of various storylines drawn together in a truly fascinating way.
