Yesterday we got the new Hellboy volume,
The Wild Hunt. I really feel like I ought to write a proper review of this, because WOAH. This is incredible stuff. It focuses on British/Celtic myth, but woven into the Hellboy mythos, with lots of various storylines drawn together in a truly fascinating way. I want to go on about it, but anyway... most exciting comic I've read in a long time. Arrrggggghhhhh what's gonna happen next?!
Speaking of comics (and art in general), here's an
excellent post by
fetorpse about how to deal with creative growth.
On a side note, a Photoshop
preview that is crazy. Not terribly useful for the drawing/painting usage of the program, but still pretty remarkable.
In other news, I noticed that there's a new trailer for
The Good, The Bad, The Weird. I found this
a while ago, but looks like it's getting at least some US release. The art house-y theater in Berkeley is playing it soon, and I kinda really want to see it. However, I was sorely disappointed by "Sukiyaki Western Django", which despite having an absolutely fantastic trailer, was dead boring. But "...The Weird" seems like it might be consistently exciting, or at least super stylish, so might be worth a shot.
Also - from Luc Besson ("The Professional" and "The Fifth Element"), "Les Adventures Extraordinaires de Adele Blanc-Sec":
