My fiencee showed me something this past week. We went to shaws while she visited me at college. She went up to the deli counter and asked to see the bulk ends. And we were shown a box with all the ends of the meats and cheases that can't be sold/cut cause they are wrong sized. Here in PA the ACME (which is Albertson's) has packages of meat ends and cheese ends in shrink wrap in the deli counter. You don't get to pick but it's a variety. The cheese is really easy to use to snack on or to top off any au gratin dish.

I saw some bacon ends at Giant a few week ago but I could figure out how you would cook them aside from chopping it up and frying it in little bits to put in collard greens or a quiche. The pieces were too odded shaped to fry in slices.

But yeah it's definetly cheap to get ends like that.

You can add the little bits of bacon ends to tons of stuff, heres a few things I use them for on a regular - Add to Baked Beans, Add to Mashed Potatoes, Add to Scrambled Eggs, Topping for Baked Potatoes, Topping for Salad.

Plus spaghetti carbonara, bagels and cream cheese (they'll stick to the cheese), and nearly any kind of soup.

I LOVE the variety ends. I melt 'em down and add about a cup of milk & a little knob of butter to make baked mac & cheese.

That sounds fantastic. How much cheese does that require?

Depends-- I usually cook enough for 2 people w/ lots of leftovers. I use about a pound of cheese per pound of pasta, and add a cup of milk per pound of food.
