Shoe cleaning

Any tips on removing winter salt residue from black fabric? I wore dress shoes out about 2 mos ago and put them away wet... pulled them out today for an interview and there are small stains on them, big enough to be visible, from the snow/salt mix that I must have walked through. Would hate to have to replace them but they're not so presentable as is!
