Skeleton Wrestling

The Radio Times veers from loving TW to being very exasperated with it, but it always gets picked as a featured Choice for Wednesdays :p This is what they say about Dead Man Walking:

Consistency is still proving a problem; this second series is all over the place like an illegal firework. You could see it as a lucky dip: you never know what will turn up. Tonight's bad trip of an episode, for instance, although a continuation of last week's bouncy frolic, explores much bleaker, darker avenues.

To reveal more detail about the story would spoil it, but this is Torchwood wearing its serious hat, with existential diversions and nightmarish imagery to boot. Still, there's always Ianto's deadpanning and a spot of skeleton wrestling for light relief.

Well, I've consistently loved it so far, but then I was enamoured of S1 too, warts and all, so what do I know...?! But nice to see the Ianto appreciation spreading hither and yon :D

Burn is featured in their What I'm Watching column, wherein he confesses to being a sci-fi nut and the intention of turning his son into a proper nerd when he's a bit older :D. And I agree with him completely about the classic BBC period dramas. "There's a lot of good stuff around at the moment. My only worry is that TV seems to be going a bit overboard with the period drama thing. We don't need to have everything on our screens in the next six months." Yup, Larkrise to Candleford completely passed me by because it followed too hard on the heels of the sublime Cranford; I just wasn't ready to let the one go and dive straight into another.

Oi, where's my TW mag #2 then?! It's a bit crap, apparently, but I've paid for the ruddy thing, so send it!
