Before And After
I welcomed him home with a blistering kiss…
But then we spent most of the evening dealing with the mayhem caused by an undeniably seductive man from his past. Jack is intrigued that I don't seem to mind. Even though I do.
His body tells me that I've gone one better with this kiss, in the aftermath.
"You sure about this?"
He's never asked before. "I know what I'm doing, Jack." And I do. I don't need lessons. "It's just that… I can't do it tonight." His expression is priceless as I slowly withdraw. "Prior engagement, sorry. If I'd known…"

I hear his hurried footsteps first, but only press the button when he speaks.
"Ianto, wait up!"
Thirty-seven seconds. I slip our favourite toy back into my pocket, and attempt to force the smirk from my lips. "Yes Jack?"
"You don't really have to go, do you?"
I turn, frowning as I glance at my wristwatch. "Well, maybe I could spare a few minutes. To clean those cuts on your face."
Jack affects a limp as he approaches. "Oh. Right. No. It's okay."
"I'd better be off then." I smile brightly and squeeze his arm. "As you don't need me…"

Jack inhales loudly and sharply as I head off again. I know that fall killed him, and all his deaths take their toll. They hurt me too. But he was just fine a few minutes ago...
"Have a good night" he calls after me. "Oof!"
Less than ten seconds this time. He used to be so much better at this than me. "Let's get you back downstairs. You need to rest."
"Do I?"
He leans heavily on me, even though I know he doesn't need to. "You do."
"Ianto… are you playing me?"
"Far better than you're playing me, Jack."
