Gather ye rose-buds while ye may. Old Time is still a flying....

After three weeks of traveling every weekend (Baltimore, New Haven, NYC, Atlanta)...a weekend back in good ole DC.  More on that later.
In the meantime, summer has finally arrived, along with the 90 degree weather. After a rough week of long hours and steamy commutes on the Metro, nothing could be better than an afternoon of poolside relaxation with
envirochick, and tapas and Sangria outside in the square with friends. This evening, it's a face mask, self-pedicure, and Sanjuro with El Larrster. Ah...this is the life.

Am also reading two books at present (as per usual) "Sense and Sensibility" by J.Austin--I figured it was high time I read a book of hers that she had written while she was alive. A piece of pie to whomever can guess which books of hers I have read prior to this one. I have to say I'm a little ashamed because the paperback verison I'm reading was to promote the movie, even though it's the full-text--so Emma Thompson's plastered all over it.  ; and "God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" by Christopher Hutchinson. I'm not an atheist, and even if I was, I think I'm too timid to write a title so intolerant as that one, but I have to admit, the guy is about as unapologetic for his beliefs as any televangelist I've ever seen. +1 to the atheists then for a book that's approachable, interesting, and challenging.

Last weekend, I went to Larry's home in New Haven, CT. It was wonderful to finally meet his mom--who is awesome--hang with his twin Al, and meet some of his high school friends. Sadly, I didn't get quite as many embarrassing stories about Larry as I would like, but I did get to see many baby pictures. Now, I have at least some ammunition against him--namely that he did in fact once wear diapers and smile when his photo was being taken.

The weekend before that, I was in Atlanta visiting my mom and a few friends. It made me miss home, but due to some news I've received lately from some of my nearest and dearest, I'm not quite sure how long home will mean "the greatest geographic concentration of people who love you and people you love." Or something to that extent, anyway.

And the weekend before THAT--I was in NYC attending an engagement party for my cousin (Uncle B's stepson). It was fun and at a great restaurant. Apparently my Uncle knows anybody worth knowing in NY--or at least he always knows the owners of the heppest places to eat at least.

So, my traveling is through, for the time being--but time keeps going by faster than I can mark it.

Gather ye rose-buds while ye may,
Old Time is still a flying:
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he's a getting;
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he's to setting.

That age is best, which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times, still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time;
And while ye may, go marry:
For having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry.
