I had an early meeting this morning. Now I am back in the office and exhausted and ready to be home, asleep. Ugh. STILL TWO HOURS TO GO. WHY.
Anyway, in an effort to keep myself from letting this LJ die, here is a meme. I'm hoping that since I'll be posting to meme every day, I'll also remember to post about stuff that's happening.
(Nothing is happening today. I'm tired. I'm trying to decide what jewelry I'm wearing to a wedding this weekend and cursing myself because either of my actualfax gold pendants would look nice with this dress, but both chains are broken /o\ )
So, I've seen a bunch of people doing this, but kaydeefalls is the first person I've seen who has it all typed out and not in an image format, so let's say I'm stealing it from her.
1. Introduction and a recent photo
Hi internet, I'm Kait. I go by both pocky_slash and @fourteenacross online, but mostly I just answer to "Kait." I blame this on Rent fandom primarily, where most people went by their real names and there was lots of in-person socializing. Also, in general there is a very loose divide between my "real life" and my fannish life. Almost all of my RL friends are fannish people I met either through each other or through the internet. I started in fandom at a very young age, so my parents are aware of fandom as a whole, even if they don't particularly care enough to dig for my personal contributions. I'm pretty cool with fannish people knowing about my real life, and I try to be good enough about not using my full name outside of a friendslock that real life people who DON'T know about my fandom life can't find me easily.
Um, anyway, that was a tangent so I can generally say to please call me Kait, it's fine, I don't care.
I live in the greater Boston area with mcwonthelottery and I have for the past three years, but I'm originally from Jersey and very vocal about that. (Jersey is the best, don't even try to tell me otherwise.) I work for what is essentially a mental health insurance company, as a contract manager and coordinator of recovery and peer services. I can't really explain what I do all day, because I don't really know myself. It's a long story.
My main hobbies, outside of fandom, are kidlit and horror movies. I love all forms of kids' lit, from board books and picture books up through YA, and although I'm not currently working in the field, I try to stay up on trends and hot topics and such. I have a more entertainment/academic interest in horror films, meaning I watch a LOT of them and learn interesting things about them, but don't necessarily feel the need to obsessively learn more on the internet. If that makes any sense.
Um, what else? I don't wear pants very often--I am all skirts and dresses. My favorite book is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, my favorite movies are the original Halloween, Josie and the Pussycats, and Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. My first official fandom (ie: I wrote fic and posted it for other people to read) was The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. My favorite shoes are black suede flats that are super comfortable and soft and perfect. My cocktail of choice is a gin and tonic. I prefer hard cider to beer. I have a hat that looks like a frog.
