So, last night we held our first (annual?) birthday party. It was a blast. We invited 40 kids or so over to our practice space and basically hung out all night.
Jim's little brother's band, Skip Army, played what was, possibly, their first show infront of people that they don't know. They seemed to have fun with it. They impressed me with their playing.. They did some covers, quality band for their age. I really hope they stick with it, they remind me of myself when I was starting out in bands.
After Skip Army Lucky 13 did some acoustic songs, it was cool because they're our buddies. I did an acoustic rendition of No More Tears with them, fun.
Then, we played our first set. We've changed a lot over the course of the year. It was strange to play some of the songs. No More Tears and Cover Up are the only two that we still play frequently. Our cover of the RxBandits went well, and it was fun to throw that in to the mix again, I wish we had more time to do it more often, but, with so many originals that we want to play, it's tough to find time for covers. It was fun, we probably won't ever play some of those songs again.
After we played our first set, we ate cake.. we had a HUGE cake, and we finished it off, awesome. And we watched the tape of our first show. Man, Stuba was out of tune. I really do love that kid, he really just didn't fit with the band! Some good laughs were had while watching that tape. I hope it burns sometime soon so nobody else ever sees it.
We did some new songs after that, man, i love the new songs. They're so much easier to rock out to than the older stuff. Mikey from L-13 did Perfection with us, Pat from Trike did Silent Screams with us.. awesome. Fun times.
After the show everyone headed out, Trike did a little 3-song set for shits and giggles. Those kids are fun.
Overall, happy birthday to us.
