Quick post before I retire

Jun 26, 2009 23:00

Way past bedtime and I meant to work on some fic for the Spring Fever challenge over at pulped_fictions and totally did not do it. Sigh. I have 3 days till deadline and while the idea is hot in my head, I'm having trouble writing it in word form. Can't I just act it out? Or do a screenplay? I guess I could. Or not.

I hate when it's not even writer's block, but just the stupid inability to write prose that is as good as the scene in your head is. Or is that writer's block? Oh well.

Wimbledon has been very interesting this year. Without Rafa (sniff), it just seems weird. Almost like the days of yore, before Rafa came storming on to the scene and threatened Federer's throne. There have been loads of five-setters, naturally. Not many of them were shown on TV, naturally.

Favourite five-setter yet: Marin Cilic of Croatia vs. the USA's Sam Querrey. CENTRE COURT. FIVE SETS. And Marin won. It was spectacular.

And of course Marin is making me go through a stress roller coaster today as the dope had the chance to TAKE THE MATCH in the fifth vs. Tommy Haas and did not. Play got suspended since it was getting so dark and it will be finished tomorrow. 6-6 in the fifth and no tiebreak.

I am hyperventilating in advance.

Biggest "upset" was Lleyton Hewitt beating Juan Martin Del Potro (who took Rafa's spot at the no. 1 position for this tourney) in straights yesterday. I had utterly no faith in Lleyton beating JMDP and naturally, my bracket challenge draw got a nice big slash on it. I had JMDP going through to the semis. Ouch.
But still, I'm happy for Lleyton. It's nice to see him doing well at Wimbledon. It WAS his place for a year (until he very smartly lost to Ivo Karlovic in the first round the year he defended his title. UGH).
I hated Ivo for the longest time after that. Now I don't mind him so much. Although I am a bit peeved that he took out one of my faves, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga today. And honestly, while I like the guy, I can't stand his game. Dude's 6'10" and is an ace machine. Bo.Ring.

Oh and I'm out of the suicide pool thanks to Tommy Robredo spectacularly choking today vs. Dudi Sela. Good for Dudi but UGH seriously, Bredo? Damn you. I was hoping to at least make the second week again. Boo.

Today just sucked tennis-wise. Tsonga lost, Robredo lost, Marin's headlocked in the fifth vs. Tommy Haas (never been a huge fan) and I still miss Rafa (I'm a baby. I know). Only good thing is Nole got through. So that made me happy.

OK, enough rambling. On a side note, I love Wimbledon so much and I love that I'm able to watch it at work instead of CNN, especially on a day like today when I probably would have vomited at the extreme amount of Michael Jackson death coverage. No offense to the guy, I love his music and all that, but if I have to read the stuff online AND keep looking at his memoriams on TV...I dunno.

It's just shocking he's dead. Well, for me, because I totally forgot about him until I heard about his London concerts. And then his death.

I don't want to end this entry on a note about Jacko. So...let's talk about something happy. Something good. And green. And where I want to be.

One of these days, I'm getting myself over to Wimbledon and spending the entire bloody fortnight there.

G'nite!
