Wimbledon started today. Hurrah!
It's super weird without Rafa in the draw though. I miss him.
But, I got through the suicide pool and my bracket didn't suffer too badly today.
Although, I am really angry at Feliciano Lopez for playing another first round five-setter and promptly losing it.
Truly, he could be the next Marat Safin at this rate.
I freaking love Wimbledon. I'm so glad it's started. But I still miss Rafa to bits.
OMG I have become a full-fledged Rafa fan. I readily admit it. It was a long time coming, that's for sure.
So this past weekend, I visited some family in DC and my friend came along as well. She had never seen DC and there was a lot of DC I had not yet seen, so we planned a sightseeing trip for Saturday. It was LOADS of fun. I got to see all the memorials, which I had never been up to before. We chilled in some museums (literally, because the air conditioning was SO welcoming after the brutal sun's rays that afternoon). We walked all over the place, from the Smithsonian to the Jefferson Memorial to the Lincoln Memorial to the White House.
It. Was. Kickass.
Naturally we took the DC Metro to get from my cousin's place to the Mall. I kept joking it looked like some sinister sci-fi pod station thing. It was cool but also sort of creepy.
And today I find out that there was a crash on the DC Metro red line. Four dead, 70 injured. Oh. Goodness.
It's one of my worst fears, riding on the subway, that something will happen deep underground. Like Sept. 11, what happens if some giantc catastrophe leaves us all stuck underground. My paranoia was working full scale on Saturday and then this happens.
I hope there are no more deaths and the 70 injured are not too badly hurt. This really sucks.
Mood out a little now. I should go work on my Spring Fever challenge, which is due in 8 days.
Or go watch "John Adams."
Or both.
Gnite.
