How about tomorrow? I'm super excited for the US Open. This year has just been a fun tennis season. I remember last year I wasn't as excited. Mainly because I didn't have a TV so you see how that works. But it's not just that. This year I've been focusing on every single tournament, focusing on several players, really helping my tennis fandom. It helps that I spend a lot of time on a tennis forum and am also learning more about the sport than I've had the pleasure of knowing. Finding an outlet (other than this here blog) to let out my tennis ecstasy and anger during major tournaments has really made me crazier fan (if that's possible).
This U.S. Open is CRAZY. CRAZY, I tell you. Federer isn't no. 1 anymore (it's nice to see someone else at the top, for however long or short Rafa's reign will be), Rafa's on a ridiculously hot streak, Djokovic is looking to get back in the program after a fairly disappointing season (I mean come on, dude was supposed to be a major threat this year), and Andy Murray apparently has a very high chance of winning big at the Open. Everyone else is playing catch up.
The top three (Rafa, Fed, Djoko) are ALL going to be vying for a win. Murray desperately wants to prove that aye, he is what people say he is (a phenomenal player). Gasquet wants to show he won't choke. Roddick is going for another Slam to add to his lone USO title. I'm just praying Marat Safin can safely get to the final and win (high hopes, I know). Eight years after his first title...why not?
In other news, I experienced a super fangirly moment while watching Children of Dune last night. As an aside, I will say this film is much better looking than Dune and I'm sure that's mainly because it had the good fortune of better technology for better graphics etc. Dune was good, just the acting got a bit cheesy towards the third part. Anyway! Back to the item at hand...
Fangirly moment. Children of Dune. At the end of the first part when James McAvoy arrived, I screamed (well, not screamed, more like exclaimed) "JAMES!" about ten times, missing the dialogue entirely. He's the main reason I even started watching the Dune films, so there you are.
But I have been wanting to watch the series for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got the chance to do so. Second part will be watched today, hurrah!
And on a positive ending note, I studied for three hours yesterday. HURRAH! At the library! Even though a girl and her mother were reading an Arthur story aloud in the table next to me. Sigh, only me!
More study today. After Dune watching, of course. :)
