Gorgeous Sunday

It's a lovely Sunday afternoon (evening?). The past two days have been rainy, which I didn't mind so much. They were that sort of spring-like rain where it's not exactly warm but it's not cold either so you don't mind walking without an umbrella or gloves in the drizzle. So naturally, I loved it. Plus, driving around with Badly Drawn Boy's mellow music playing in the car just suited my mood this weekend.

Friday was positively foul. I've been having one of those weeks where I feel dismal and want to go back home. Part of me knew it was a phase and part of me just was so miserable that I wanted to be with my friends and family again. It doesn't help that I'm just so utterly lazy when I come home from work. I mean, it's an effort to switch on the bloody computer so I can write for a bit. I wrote a little last night, which was nice. I scrapped about seven pages of a chapter that's had be stalled and started over again. I just couldn't be bothered with all the stuff I'd written. It was awful and getting me nowhere. I've only got about a quarter of a page with the renewed chapter, but at least I know what not to write.

I'm getting my writing mojo back...just a little. A little is better than none, right?

Well the weekend got better-ish. I was actually quite cranky today since I had to be up early for work and it was stupid Daylight Savings Time begins day. UGH. So my sleeping time was downed by an hour. Once I stepped out of work though and saw the sun shining high in the sky, I thought, "I love daylight savings time. Yay!" Complete hypocritical turnaround, je sais.

Anyway, it's absolutely lovely (but cold!) outside and I'm forcing myself to stay awake. Usually I take a short nap (which becomes a long nap) and the whole lovely sunny late afternoon/early evening is gone. And my sleeping pattern is messed up. So I figured I'll do some LJ posting and watch some Scrubs and have a proper day in. And it's really nice so far...a proper Sunday afternoon. Hurrah!

This post has no point. I know. I just wanted a little ramble. Oh! Another shout-out! Go to
feastsandflicks because I've just posted a humongous movie review entry. HUMONGOUS. Literally. Be thankful I remembered to LJ cut it. It feels pretty cool to be blogging about movies. It's almost as fun as blogging about tennis :)

OH which reminds me! TENNIS! It was the Dubai championships this week and the top three players in the world were playing: Federer, Rafa and Djokovic. All three tumbled out before the final, Fed in the first round, actually, to Andy Murray. Hehe. It's not really funny but I just love seeing all the Fed fans go crazy. Admittedly, I was crushed when Rafa lost to Angry Roddick in the quarterfinals, especially since I didn't expect it, but oh well. Djoko followed suit after Rafa and lost to Roddick in the semis. Funnily enough, Angry went on to win the tournament, which was totally unexpected. I think the reason was because he and his coach Jimmy Connors parted ways. Now Connors didn't annoy me as much as Brad "Shut your Mouth" Gilbert, but ESPN's attention on Roddick and his dream-team association with Connors irritated me so much I wanted to puke. And maybe Andy Roddick will learn to stop being such a jerkoff on court and will actually play as well (maybe a little less of the aces because that was frustrating to watch) as he did this week. Oh right, Roddick went on to win the title in Dubai, so yay all the Fed fans were ecstatic he beat Djoko and the Andy fans were ecstatic for Andy and I was just sad Rafa lost. I was surprised Djoko lost, to be honest, but maybe he'll stop pissing off the Fed fans with his smack talk. Hopefully Rafa will improve on the hard courts for Indian Wells (!!) and Roddick will cool his temper and stop being an ass when he's on court. Damn it, why do I always make an effort to like him? It's never going to happen.

Hehe. I just remembered that the first time I watched Roddick play was at Indian Wells in 2001. That was the first year I was fully in tune with tennis and followed it religiously. And I remember taking a dislike to ESPN's poster child then itself (that was Roddick's first year on the pro tour, I believe. Or at least when he broke out on the top). Oh Indian Wells, I have such fond memories of you. Lleyton Hewitt losing to Jan-Michael Gambill in the semis, which made me so angry I wanted to scream. Yeah those early years all had to do with Hewitt. OH. Which reminds me, Hewitt lost in the early rounds of the Las Vegas tournament, but that's not important. Former Illini Kevin Anderson is in the finals of the LV tourney...and he'll be playing American Sam Querrey. COME ON ANDERSON!!! I always knew that kid would really make a dent in the pro tour out of all the Illini in the pro circuit. So good on him!

Hurrah for tennis news! And hurrah for live streaming and TennisWorld to talk about it with! Hurrah! And now I am off because I want to watch Scrubs and relax a bit. Happy Sunday!
