There are bodies in the street.
I went and did a recon sweep from my sister's bedroom, which overlooks the front of the house, and also the street...
I've barracaded the bay window in the sitting room. That thing was asking for trouble, and it took a little time to move the sofa into position, but I managed it and then had to man-handle the chairs too.
An interesting side-note - my dad has just called me from his holiday with girlfriend and appears to have no idea of the danger. I told him I was fine, since I thought it would only distress him to learn that his daughter is in the midst of a zombie uprising. Also strange, the telephone seems to be working fine. You'd think that zombies would cause wide-spread chaos, but they don't seem to be much for the property destruction thing. A few broken windows, that seems to be it.
All of the rooms that face onto the street (and the ones that don't, but they could become compromised) have been barracaded as far as possible, and locked with the master inner door key. Several strongholds have been established around the house.
I have several weapons, some with me, some in the strongholds, and some cleverly hidden in places of tactical weakness. Food has also been stashed and 'facilites' worked out for each stronghold.
I think I can last through this. The problem is, i don't know how anyone else is faring. I can't get in touch with
sticksoldier,
gemmybear7,
galacticonman (although jack I'm not worried about!) etc, etc... my flist is full of people not reporting zombies. I'm starting to wonder if it's all just me...
But then I hear the moaning from outside, and the slow wet shuffle of feet and I'm clutching my shovel and trying not to be afraid.
The weird thing is... and this was the point of me writing all of the above... they seemed to be shuffling off. I can hear them still, but I can't really see them, and the ones I can see appear to be heading away from me (which is great), but in towards town (which is not).
I wonder what's going on. I'm going to try the telly. See if there's any reports.
