We travelled up north at the weekend to go to a Maxïmo Park gig in Newcastle. Jo and Chris were going with us (and had in fact organised the trip, so thanks to them for that :) ). We've just come back from the Marillion Weekend 2011 - basically 3,000 or so Marillion fans take over a Center Parcs in the Netherlands, and the band play 3 shows over the weekend and there's all sorts of other Marillion-related stuff.

Thursday was gig 3 of 7 - iLiKETRAiNS playing in the Colchester Arts Centre. We'd been to the venue once before, but a long time ago to see a band we didn't end up staying through the whole set of (we'd got tickets for free via Ed and none of the three of us ended up liking the band). Wednesday was the day of the second in our series of concerts for the autumn - we went to see Fish playing at the Junction in Cambridge. A much less fraught journey than into London, we know where we're going and where we're going to park & so on. On Saturday we started the run of gigs for the rest of the year (7 in 4 months, 4 of which are in a little over 2 weeks) :) Saturday's was particularly "exciting" as we were going to drive into London rather than train/hotel - mostly because we'd not got our act together in time to get a cheap hotel room. We got there a little early - I'd been worried about getting to Cambridge in the middle of rush hour, so had suggested we left quite early, and in the end we had next to no traffic & got there about 5pm.
