Miscellany with Snow

We've had snow this week! Thought at the start of the week that we were going to escape, most of the rest of the country got a lot and we had a mere sprinkling just enough to make the grass a little white when it wasn't under the trees. Then on Wednesday and Thursday it actually snowed - I think we got 3 or 4 inches of snow, which is a lot for this far south in England. So J's been working at home most of the week, mostly coz he can and why drive in the snow if you don't have to? And I ended up going out more often than usual, which doesn't seem quite right! I'd thought I was going to need to go to Jonathan & Becky's on Thursday lunchtime to feed their kitten, so shifted the shopping trips around so that I didn't need to go buy food after I'd played with the kitten. So out on Weds for food. Then on Thurs I didn't have to feed the kitten coz the schools were shut so Jonathan was home looking after the kids anyway. But I had to go out for the things I'd forgotten on Wednesday ... And then out again on Friday for the stuff I couldn't get in the Co-op.

And being, well, the anti-mountain-goat this all took a little longer than it should have done as I gingerly picked my way along the icy pavements ;) I thought about going back out yesterday & taking some pictures - the Salutation pub in town had some awesome icicles, and there were icicles on the traffic lights too, as well as some cool looking trees. But I figured I'd just fall over or drop the camera so it wasn't really worth it. And now it's all melting. Which is good, but it means I've missed my chance.

Back out in a bit this afternoon, too - J's got a sight test & I'm dithering about buying a fancy new camera (DSLR of some sort) for xmas. J's talking to his sis at the moment (while I'm typing this) so I'm guessing I need to decide now if I'm asking for contributions to that for my xmas pressies from people or not! :) I'm gonna talk to the people in Jessops this afternoon, I think, and see if they can help me make my mind up between a Canon EOS 500D and a Nikon D3100 ... I looked at a Sony A390 as well, but the reviews I've read of that haven't been as positive. Argh. It's quite a lot of money (I'll be paying for the majority of it myself even if it's a xmas pressie) and it's just "for fun". There's also no "right" answer as to what to buy - pluses and minuses for every camera and I've no idea which ones I'll give a damn about (if any) till later.
