Who: Norman and whomever Jack
Where: Rooftop garden
When: Mid-morning
What: An unknowing return to the hotel

Norman could have sworn this place had gotten bigger since the day before. Or he could have, anyway, if Mother hadn't forbidden him from doing anything as crass as swearing - and if he'd been sure that it really had been just the day before. Time didn't feel right here, and even though he was all but sure he'd only spent two or three nights in this hotel, it still didn't sit quite right in his head when he tried to think about it.

He'd explored the hotel again, finding himself glad that he wasn't the one who had to change all the sheets in all those rooms, and had eventually found himself on the roof after what had felt like an interminable climb upward. He stood among the plants, breathing in the air and blinking in the sunlight. Such a strange place - a desert below, but up here it was almost like a forest. Norman meandered along a pathway, looking for a place to sit down for a little while.
