Who: Elphaba and open
Where: Chapel
When: Two or three days after
thisWhat: Elphie talks to Glinda
Elphie had spent the past few days in the library trying to find out information about Witches. The library kept sending her to the psychology section and self-help books. They weren't helping. The Witch cooed to her while she read. Taunted that she was coming. Elphie's nights were spent with Ford. She liked nights. It was the only time she was truly alone in her head. Something about Ford just being there kept the Witch at bay.
Today, she headed for the library as usual, and found the Chapel instead. Twice. She gave up and went in, not looking forward to what she was going to see. She was wearing her light blue dress. Ford had suggested up in the attic that lighter colors make people happier... she was hoping it'd keep the Witch away. She'd left her hat and her cloak in her room along with her broom. Best to keep all witchy items away.
She found he alcove that housed the statue of Saint Glinda. The Saint stood there, welcoming Elphie in, but the statue of old Kumbricia was there too, beckoning. Elphie turned from the Witch and faced Glinda. She knelt at the statues feet, leaning her forehead on the pedestal.
"I don't know what to do. I don't want to become the Witch but she won't leave me alone. And I can't stay with Ford all the time. What should I do, Please help!" All she heard was Oh how sweet my pretty. You think praying to your friend will help you. Well, I'm still here... still waiting for you to find yourself completely alone. Waiting for you to weaken. It's only a matter of time. I can wait... and wheedle away your strength.
"Go away!" Elphie shouted. "You're not welcome here!" She turned back to Glinda and wrapped her arms around the statue's legs. Then she fell into a silent meditation, trying to find small strength in Glinda.
