Made it to two
Fringe events (Saturday before last). A
contemporary dance thingo, which was "interesting" [1], and a
democracy/capitalism thingo which was also "interesting" [2].
[1] I really liked that it was out in a public space. It was in a park next to a shopping strip and unawares shoppers walking past and occasionally through. There were also somewhat grotty men drinking longnecks of VB at the park benches. At the other side of the park there was an old house where some rowdy bogans were having a BBQ in the front yard and were playing some quite loud metal on their stereo. They turned down their music when the dancers (and their arty ambient music) moved closer to their side of the park. They also yelled things which may have been intended as encouraging.
[2] There was a border control station and we got visas on entry. We exchanged real money for peanuts (at a variable exchange rate) which we used to buy beer. We were bribed (in peanuts) to take part in a rigged election. Saw a pretty good band who had a short attention span. We seceded from Australia.
