Nicked

Dec 28, 2009 17:09

Meme thing nicked from Will/Sarah/Rick. Done my year 8 set 3 assessment log and overview for the day, i reckon i've a bit of mindless-pratting-around-on-the-internet time :-) also, don't know how to put it behind a cut, i'm not fucking Bill Gates.

01. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

Yer mum. Nah, that's a massive lie, i did her last year. On a more serious note, i went to Bloodstock which was surprisingly fun considering i don't really like metal, and went abroad for the first time ever (Scotland and Belgium). Happy days.

02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Did i fuck, and no.

03. Did someone close to you give birth?

Nah, our Jason's missus is due in January though. Thankfully they've not picked any daft names for the lad.

04. Did anyone close to you die?

Not close to me, but my sister's feller Carl had his mum die of cancer and his brother get killed in a bike accident on Snake Pass this year :-(

05. What countries did you visit?

Scotland and Belgium, both absolutely mint. Should be doing Hungary and a few others this summer :-D

06. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

A lass'd be nice, failing that an offie somewhere near us that does crates of Stones.

07. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

There's a few, Bloodstock 09, Edinburgh, Blur at Hyde Park, Brussels, and Leeds 09 being chief among them.

08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?

Knowing i could *actually* teach. That'll do.

09. What was your biggest failure(s)?

Getting a massive bollocking a few weeks into my first placement, thankfully it gave me the kick up the arse i needed.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Apart from minor scrapes and man flu, nowt major.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My shiny new Ashdown bass cab and head for about £550, worth every penny. Oh yes it is. *drools*

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

The usual really. The family, Fletch and the rest of the folk back home, Jim and Pete, the Northern Oak massive, and all me mates at uni. In particular, big shout out to everyone who supported us after i were forced to come out to mum and dad, means the world to us.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

A lot of folk on a sliding scale, really. Bent governments, bent MPs, the BNP, homophobic dickheads, Didier Drogba, bankers, and Rupert Murdoch.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Booze.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

The summer in general, and also joining Northern Oak :-)

16. Missing, apparently.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you

i. happier or sadder? Hard to say. Certainly under a lot more pressure, but hey, positive mental attitude and that :-)

ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter. Christ, i've turned into such a fat knacker, carry on at this rate and i won't be able to see me own dick.

iii. richer or poorer? Technically richer, i'm still owed a lot of money though.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Sleeping.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Planning lessons.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Spent it working the farm and rowing with various family membes. Wahey.

22. Did you fall in love in 2009?

I fucking wish.

23. How many one-night stands?

Two, both with mates. Definitely with intent to do it again if possible ;-) unfortunately, inbetween were the biggest dry patch i've ever had in my life, don't fancy repeating that again!

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Nowt really, apart from the football and the darts.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Just one, the girl i were paired wih on my first placement, the fucking mardy sour-faced bint.

26. What was the best book you read?

Cloughie's autobiography were a fascinating read. Plus, Jim's attempt at pronouncing Cloughie were fucking hilarious.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Apart from some of the bands at Bloodstock i unexpectedly ended up liking (Amon Amarth being chief among them), Jim played us a lot of Trencher, who are fucking terrifyingly amazing. They sound Satan's own fairground ride. Also, saw this band on the unsigned stage at Leeds 09 called What Makes You Beautiful, who were fucking brilliant considering on paper they souned lik the worst idea ever (rap/emo/rave hybrid).

28. What did you want and get?

Ashdown bass amp.

29. What did you want and not get?

Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass.

30. Favorite film of this year?

Cool Runnings. Yep.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

21, think i might've had a bar crawl...

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Having a missus.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Same as usual tbh; trainers, jeans and a band t-shirt. However, what with wok and Northern Oak these days all i seem to ever wear is black shoes, black trousers, black shirt and a black tie. NECRO AS.

34. What kept you sane?

Mates, coursemates in particular.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Toss up between Sebastien Chabal, Charley Webb, and all of Biffy Clyro.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Ah, fucking loads. MP expenses scandal (ironically exposed by journalists, the worst offenders for claiming expenses, Ugandan poof bashing (scratch that, poof-killing), rise of the BNP, i could go on.

37. Who do you miss?

Anyone who is where i'm not.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

The majority of my coursemates, Andy, Helen and Dicky being chief among them.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:

Don't turn up to school hungover.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Frank Turner - Isabel

"So now our calloused hands once told a story honest as it's old of sowing seeds and setting sail. But now our calloused hands are weak and working seven days a week in these salvation schemes that are bound to fail."

I usually think of that line whenever the teaching's getting too much for me and i start wondering whether or not it's just be easier to jack it in for an uncomplicated life on the farm.
