Did you know that a group California Gray Whales is called a herd, not a pod? Well, this herd put on quite a show: breaching, spy hopping, rolling...but never when I was ready. It's like they knew...as soon as I would get tired of waiting and put the camera down--Pow Zoom!
I finally managed to catch a fluke...sorta...kinda...if ya squint...
The California Sea Lions were much more cooperative.
I had the shot very carefully framed so that it read Whale Watching, but every time I hit the shutter the boat would roll and I would get Hale Watching instead. I finally gave up. Hale Watching it is.
These Pacific White-sided Dolphin rode our bow wake for nearly 5 minutes. I was able to video some of it. As soon as I figure out how to post it to Youtube, I'll put up the link.
