30 days of TV - Days 2 & 3

May 29, 2010 11:46

Wow, I'm pretty lame if I'm already behind on this after just one day! I meant to do Day 2 at work yesterday, but then a computer blew up (not literally, but it might as well have) and I had to spend the next 3 hours trying to get another one set up so the pro shop would be able to operate. In the end I had to bring in my own old computer for them to use. That's how bad money is there now. Took me forever to get the stupid receipt printer working on it, and by the time I was done and came home, the last thing I wanted was to go near another computer. :P

Anyway, the next two days of the meme:

Day 2: A show that you wish more people were watching

Hm. My first instinct is to say The Big Bang Theory, because even though it's one of CBS's top comedies, I still think more people should watch it. I haven't laughed so much at a sitcom since Friends. It's absolutely hilarious. But I think this question is meant more for a show that is underappreciated (and therefore maybe even in danger of being canceled), so I'll go a little strange and say Who Do You Think You Are?. I know, it's not a scripted show, it's a reality one, but I really loved the first season. It got me obsessed with genealogy, and I'm glad it's coming back for another season, but I still worry that not enough people watch it to keep it going. It's fascinating to see where other people's ancestry leads them (especially celebrities, but I think I'd still like it if it was just normal folks).

Day 3: Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

Finally, one I'm not undecided about. Glee, no question. Partly because this season kind of sucked for new shows, but also because Glee is awesome in a cheesy, annoyingly auto-tuned sort of way. The only other contender was The Vampire Diaries, but since I still have that show's finale on my TiVo and don't seem to be in any hurry to watch it, I can hardly say it was my favorite, can I? I can't quite figure out why I love Glee so much, either. Some of the characters are annoying, the singing is HORRIBLY auto-tuned most of the time (when I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to be, given that most of the cast came from Broadway), and some of the storylines are cringe-worthy (the fake pregnancy). But somehow none of that matters, because as a whole, the show is just so... fun! It doesn't take itself too seriously, it kind of revels in it's hokiness, and Sue Sylvester is the best comedic villain ever. :) Also, the guest stars are pretty awesome (I'm hoping for returns of Kristin Chenowith and Neil Patrick Harris in particular next season).

Perfect timing. My lunch is here! :D
