I guess the question is what you'd like to do, coupled with what you feel your personal boundaries are and what you are comfortable with. Do keep in mind that there isn't much of a market for pin-up/"gravure" markets stateside. I would imagine your intended audience would come in to play as well. I'd suggest you ask your photographer but you mentioned you do your own shooting so that defeats that purpose.
So, if I weren't going to be a creepy stalker-fan guy and say "go all the way!" I'd suggest you consider what you want to shoot and compare it with what you think will sell and/or get you discovered as it were.
Haters gon' hate. What does it matter at this point? Do what you like, and your established audience will gladly come along for the ride. The rest will pretend they don't enjoy it. lol
Well, I guess it all depends on what is too naughty/unacceptable for YOU. The pic that you've posted in one of your comments-- I don't consider it something way out of line. It's absolutely fine with me. While this (CAREFUL! NSFW!) -> http://img2.imagehyper.com/t/0/0/387/387238-a4804c1b.jpg <- is too much (IMHO
( ... )
I'd never go that far, even that far with the other images unless I was getting paid for it. I'm not talking nudity. I'm talking suggestive poses (Which I've already done...) with pantie peeks, maybe bra peek. Nothing exposed...since I'm not getting paid for it, hell no, and I'm not comfortable with it.
So, that's all I'm thinking. I enjoy it, and it doesn't bother me. I see it as power, sexuality, who I am (Everyone's sexual, and i sure get a lack of it..) and fun! Geez, I didn't even know Madonna had been so overtly sexual until I saw her SEX book my mother gave me. I think that was awesome!
Honestly, I think you should keep SOME clothes on. I don't need to see anyone's Vajay. lol If you want to shoot some more risque photos, I would consider your body type. You're curvy, you have a little more trouble with you midsection, but mostly smooth (lucky you). Maybe if you first went for some wet clothing looks, then maybe the "Oh look, here's my bra kind of look" it come be okay.
I'd like to preface this by saying that I don't mind this type of modeling at all. It doesn't offend me and I understand that in some places there is a market for it
( ... )
When I say "wasting time" I don't necessarily mean your hobbies (because nothing is a waste of time if you enjoy it) I just mean anything that could detract from you improving your life which includes spending all your time and money on something that will likely end up not mattering in the long term.
If you still want to try to get discovered, great... but you should be working on something else as backup.
I've known a lot of people who have modeled, or written short stories/books, or drawn comics and yes some of them have made a career out of those things. But not for a long, long time. So they had to make sure they had other skills to support themselves in the mean time.
Have you thought about getting a waitressing job? You can make A LOT of money, way more than a minimum wage job especially if you work holidays and the weekends. Might be easier to save this way.
If that's the case, it's already caught up to me. Nudes have already been leaked, and most jobs look down on cosplay.
So, which that said, I also have decided I don't want to teach. I think I've written this constant times on my journal.
So the whole OMG JOB YOU'LL LOSE A JOB argument makes no sense to me, since the pics are already there, can already be found, and I am not interested in teaching.
Not in JET either. I want to go to Japan, but not as a teacher. As a student, or something else.
And plus, it's my opinion employers shouldn't use that to affect your chances of being hired. If so, are they going to spy on the people having sex with their husbands, or going to bars, or their daily lives?
So I don't think gravure is wrong, and I already have stuff out there, therefore, it's not going to hurt to push it up a little more, except without nudity.
I'm going to have to agree with liberty -- you may be personally interested in the style, but this is going to catch up with you very, very fast if you try to get into any serious career

People have already judged me and dehumanized me. So what's it to me? While I'm young, cute, and have a good body, I want to do what I can to be discovered, or at least have fun with my photos and cosplays.
I'm going to live my life. And as I've said before, I'm not going to teach. And also, many characters in anime/games ARE sexual. Not all, but sex is a fact of life. No one would be here without it.
I'm already at a stand-still in my career with no where to go and things are already out there from years back. So I really just don't care about that part, and as I've said, I'm of the opinion that judgement of that type is wrong.
Judgment like that is absolutely wrong, but the point is, pictures about sex are different from sexy pictures. Sex may be a fact of life, but it's not what I want to represent me, personally. I want me to represent me, not my body parts.
If that is your life and what you want, absolutely, live with it. None of us can tell you what is wrong or right, what is "too much." We all come from different backgrounds with different experiences and different sets of morals... all of which is about perspective, not right or wrong. We're just saying that it isn't a decision without repercussions.

This is labeled gravure on tumblr. I have a pic similar to it but in seifuku/undies. I think...it's TOO gravure...but it's really hot. :/
