Epidemic

While the world is terrified of what Bird flu might bring to their doorstep, countries in the Indian Ocean are terrified at some mysterious mosquito disease, name "Chucunguya"(I dunno if it is the right spelling, but it sounds like that). In Reunion, a french colony in the Indian Ocean right next to Mauritius, there is apparently thousands of cases....4000 or 20 000. The disease is not fatal, like bird flu, but it brings along very high fever....very quickly....and makes your body extremely painful(in your bones), so much as u cannot really move much....and u have infections and shit in your mouth, and god knows where else. Sounds terrible. It is transmitted and spread by small mosquitoes. There are now many cases in Seychelles(1000+ or so according to me mom) and it is speading. Apparently, the fever lasts for a few weeks, depending on the number of sins you have committed in this world. ha ha ha

The damn mosquitoes are also spreading another disease called "Dengue fever". I am not sure of the details, but that one attacks your joints, and makes them hurt like hell.

There is also a third epidemic around, but unfortunately I do not know its name. The big disease, Chucunguya, has no vacine at the moment to prevent its spread, apart from the extermination of those mosquitoes, which is easier said than done. But even that has not started yet. I guess somebody important needs to get it bad before anything is done, such as spraying around chemicals to kill the mosquitoes, something which has started in La Reunion.

As for myself, I am living on the edge of disaster, as usual. None of my family has contracted the disease just yet, which is good....excellent.... but all those damn mosquitoes are still flying around and are having me for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its funny when there is such a danger around, but cannot do shit about it. I now have a flu, but it is not too bad, and hopefully it will not be too bad, since I have an interview tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

I don't think Seychelles has a case of bird flu yet, and i sincerely hope we never do. I really don't know what will happen if we have to kill all our chickens, as if we have that much to eat.
