From disk 2 of Season 2:

--Awwwwww, K-9! :( Will we get to see that little guy again, or is he a one shot deal? I likes him, dangerous cute robot doggie!

-Even more awww, Sarah Jane Smith. I liked her too. (And I can't stop being reminded of Genesis' Me and Sarah Jane, which is now a hundred times sadder to listen to than it's always been. I ( Read more... )

K-9!! I was introduced to Classic Who (which I didn't really care for, to be honest) in high school by my then-boyfriend, and K-9 was a part of the era I watched. I always liked that robot dog, so seeing him again in "School Reunion" made me grin thiiiiis big ( ... )

I thought the Doctor and Rose showed a unpleasantly cliquish side of themselves during Mickey's brief stint in the TARDISThe Doctor never seemed to have much use for Mickey, and Rose wants the Doctor all to herself. The one *I* don't get is *Mickey*. Good grief, does the kid need a blinking neon sign that says "she's not that into you!" before he gets the message? Man up and go find a normal girl who isn't head-over-heels in love with an extraterrestrial, because you will never, ever compete with that. Yes, Rose needs to woman up and cut him loose, I agree with that. But good grief, catch a clue, I'm so embarrassed for him! (And...err... comparing the black kid to an animal twice in the same ep. That bother anyone other than me?) *points you at the comment above for more on the Rose thing* At this point, she's making a lot of sense to me. She's acting like what she is, an immature 19-year-old. I've been one, and believe me, she's well within parameters. :) And it's fixable if the Doctor would just sit her down and tell her where she ( ... )

*nods* Oh yeah, Mickey was certainly lacking a spine during S1 and the first half of S2. Looking back on it all, I see where the writers were going with his whole character arc (and I actually grew quite fond of Mickey), but it was frustrating to watch at the time.

(And...err... comparing the black kid to an animal twice in the same ep. That bother anyone other than me?)

Yyyyyeah, I know I was wincing. It also occurs to me that while they come from very different backgrounds, both of DW's black companions kinda follow similar journeys on the show, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. Huh. But more on that later, when you finish watching S2 and 3!

And it's fixable if the Doctor would just sit her down and tell her where she stands.I definitely think the Doctor bears more responsibility for the situation than Rose; he's much older (900-someodd years old) and worldlier, for one, and the fact that he sends out mixed signals like crazy doesn't help any! Actually, I'm increasingly of the opinion that the Doctor can really be a ( ... )

Hi, and welcome! :) Your posts are really interesting, and I love how everyone I'm meeting these days also has fibro. Nice to have an flist that understands the whole chronic pain thing.
