From disk 2 of Season 2:

--Awwwwww, K-9! :( Will we get to see that little guy again, or is he a one shot deal? I likes him, dangerous cute robot doggie!

-Even more awww, Sarah Jane Smith. I liked her too. (And I can't stop being reminded of Genesis' Me and Sarah Jane, which is now a hundred times sadder to listen to than it's always been. I ( Read more... )

As usual, wabbitseason appears to be inhabiting a portion of my brain and has said everything I would say.

I was reluctant to watch the Sarah Jane adventures at first. I didn't think I wanted to see Sarah Jane try to play the Doctor to a bunch of teen-age Companions. But the show is surprisingly good. It doesn't engender the same desire in me to pontificate endlessly (well, a couple of the eps did) but it's very well done considering it's a "kid show".

I loved "Girl in the Fireplace", although a lot of people hated it. The whole clockwork robot thing was a big hit with me. (Although, OMG FREAKING SCARY. Stephen Moffat wrote it, he of "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances", hands down the scariest eps of S1, and "Blink" in S3, both the scariest and probably the cleverest ep in that season. He'll be taking over the franchise in 2010, and we're all looking forward/hiding behind our couches in anticipation.) But also, the Doctor showing that he acts on impulse, he doesn't always think things through, he acts on whatever's right in front of him, possibly at the expense of others...it's not a popular view of him, but the more you watch, the more you see that the Doctor isn't exactly safe, or even, some days, entirely sane.

I'm not sure about your views on vids, or spoilers--I don't think we've ever actually been in the same fandom before--but there's an awesome fanvid here that pretty much sums up the Tenth Doctor. It's set to the song "Handlebars", which I'd never heard before I saw that vid, so the whole thing blindsided me in that really good taking-your-breath-away way. It contains clips from all the way to the end of S4, though, and it may not give you that particular gut-punch unless you know the context of the clips, I'm not sure.

I don't really like any of S2 that much except for "Girl in the Fireplace" and "School Reunion". After that, it all goes downhill. IMO, anyway. *g* And also IMO Rose does get clingier, but you're absolutely right in that he's giving her mixed signals, so it's not entirely her fault. She lost him once, and she's freaking out that she might possibly lose him again, so she gives up trying to be his voice of reason or conscience, and just agrees with whatever. That irritates me more than the clingy, really.

Even with the clingy, I liked Rose a lot until we got to S3 and the Doctor was a rear end to Martha because of her. I know that's not Rose's fault, but there are things later that ARE Rose's fault, and I get irritated over those things. (Trying very hard not to spoil...)

There are more Daleks. And that's all I'll say about that. :D
