We spent about eight hours walking around the Chinatown and Gastown areas of Vancouver today, stopping only for two coffees and to visit the police museum. (We took a picnic lunch with us and ate it on the hoof!)
We passed a school of swordfighting on our travels, which looked totally awesome! I've looked it up online, and it looks like you can arrange a swordfighting lesson for free. Nicky isn't too keen, but I may do this before the week is over! Maybe I can trade it off for a couple of hours of shoe shopping.
http://www.academieduello.com/index.html The police museum was cool - learned a lot about policing history and police dogs, and saw an impressive array of prohibited weapons that had all been confiscated on the streets. They also had dressing up boxes!
The weird thing about it was that the building used to be the city morgue and autopsy room as well as the city court, so there were a few grisly exhibits about unsolved crimes including photographs of murder scenes, and a whole wall of slices of body in formaldehyde showing you what a gunshot wound, aneurysm or stab wound looks like! Every day's a school day!
