Just today. XD;; 1) That's true. Actually, in gr 7, Jena asked me if I "spit or swallow?". And I thought she meant my own saliva, so I was like "swallow, duh. Spitting is gross." and she laughed for the entire remainder of recess, and only sobered up for long enough to explain what she meant before she started laughing again. Yeah.. I was shocked when reading cosmogirl (target market 12+) and it gave a "kiss you guy to make him want you more!" guide. >_<
2) Ah. That makes sense. I guess a 5'3" 102 lb yaoi fangirl isn't nearly so scary as a 6'3" 302 lb hentai guy. And I suppose "yaoi" and "shonen ai" have come to mean the same thing, haven't they?
I suppose I lot of people do like it for the fad value, don't they?
HOLY HELL! Well, that seems very Jena. XD;; But still. Maybe we're weird and everyone else is normal, you know? Your thought process was saliva whereas hers was... not. Then again, she probably did it for shock value. But the Cosmogirl thing REALLY disgusts me. Beyond words. 12 year old should not be thinking about having a guy want them more.
Yeah, it's true. I know a lot of people that like yaoi just because. It doesn't seem like a valid interest... How can you say you like gay sex? It just blows my mind. But it really irks me that yaoi girls find fandom in EVERYTHING. It's like, what, do you not think of anything else? And they like things just because they find yaoi in it. I know girls that like Naruto just because of Naruto x Sasuke and it pisses the FUCK out of me. And then they make Sims of them and make them Woohoo every three second for sick yaoi glee. WHATTHEFUCK. GET LIVES.
I was very humiliated. And also disgusted. While, at that point, I had heard of blow jobs and knew the basic prinicples behind them, I a)didn't know that I should be planing how I would handle myself in that situation already and b) didn't know that I was going to have to spit or swallow anything at all. I was rather naive, to say the least. XD;; Isn't that awful? And it actually says (prepare for a bit of paraphrasing) "Kissing shouldn't be just something that comes before the "other thing", it can be really enjoyable by itself! So here's how to make both you and your boy really enjoy it!". And I agree that it's pretty nearly the worst thing in the world when people like something just for it's yaoi potential. I don't mind them putting the characters in yaoi situations in fan works, but please like the series because it's good and you enjoy it, not because you like the idea of the characters sleeping together
Well, I knew it meant boys having sex, but I didn't know it was an acronym. I thought it was it's own word, y'know? And the fact that those words imply that it's just sex for sex's sake was the thing for me. XD;; PWP? What's that? o_o *still naive, apparently* I don't mind kids of that age liking shonen ai, but part of what got me started was that one of the people in this yaoi art community was super- young (born in 1993!) and there were really graphic pictures on the site. And she had commented on them! o_o;;
Wow. That's.. not very good. Rape hentai has always bugged me because it's turning such a traumatic subject into entertainment (and I agree, non-con fics aren't so bad because at least there's a reason beyond porn to it).
That's true. I think girls are just way more closed-mouthed about things like that. Most guys brag about how much porn they have, whereas I've never met a girl who admits to even watching it (not counting yaoi, of course XD;; and not that I've asked any of my girl friends about it either, although now

PWP doesn't necessarily have to be a sex fic. :\ It may have taken on that meaning nowadays, but to me, and back in the day of when I wrote fanfiction, a PWP was a story that just didn't have plot and was a speculation story or delving into a character's mind. I can understand that there are probably a lot of PWP shounen-ai fics, but it's not just sex. ;-; My Saria story was PWP. :[
Aww, the people on my bus were awful too! They asked me what I thought a condom was, and I thought that was slang for condominium. I know, I know... but I wasn't even twelve! A sheltered life, apparently. XDD
I, myself, find shounen-ai really cute, because it's not as sexually explicit as yaoi. I don't read much of it, so it might be a major generalization, but I find that shounen-ai is centered around the relationship of the two men (and is often humorous), instead of simply "doing the deed". I have encountered yaoi girls, but not all of them are rabid and scary. Rest assured that some of them actually do appreciate Naruto as a good manga, and not as an OTP smorgasbord (sp?).
People that just look for couples everywhere just piss me off too. I mean, it's one thing to poke fun and joke, like "haha, oh, look at the glances they keep giving each other!", but it's another thing to create it and overlook the quality of the manga in it's original sense. Yuri fangirls do this too; hey, has anyone else met a larger amount of yuri fangirls

Oh man, that is one of the worst responses to "I like anime" ever! Suddenly you're labeled a pervert even though there's so much more to anime than that.
NC-17 would probably do the exact opposite of boring a kid; it would probably make them more curious. I mean, I understand that some kids are simply horny, because of some reason of another, but when I was younger all I thought about was shoujo stuff, like Sailor Moon. Actually, I wasn't really introduced to the whole expanse of stuff that is anime until a couple of years ago; I had a wise and all-knowing sensei though. XD
I know what you mean about the sweet hetero couples; take Sakura and Li from CCS and Tsubasa, for example. One of the sweetest couples ever, truly an OTP if anyone's looking for one. But there are some good shounen-ai couples too, like Shuichi and Yuki from Gravitation; I mean, their antics make me crazy sometimes, but I loves 'em.
I guess one of the appeals of making these couples out of nowhere is that they are a bit out there, and people are attracted by

Exactly! T_T And it's so hard to explain that it isn't just pervert stuff, because the people who think that are usually the same types who are very stubborn and closed mided about anything outside of their own understanding
