Crazy Vampires

Angel was working on some files in his office when Gunn walked in, carrying some papers with him and looking purposeful. It seemed that he had some business to discuss. Angel was busy, so he hoped that Gunn would be quick. He looked up at Gunn and, with a nod of his head, signaled him to speak. Which Gunn did.

“Hi, Angel. You got a minute?”

“What is it, Gunn?”

“I’ve got some cases for you to look at. I was hoping you could make some time for them today.”

“I’ll see what I can do.”

“Alright. Good.”

Angel expected Gunn to put the papers on his desk and leave, but that didn’t happen. Gunn was still standing there, apparently hoping for a bit of chit chat or something. Angel hated chit chat, but the rules of politeness prevented him from rudely sending Gunn on his way. Angel would just have to wait and see what Gunn wanted. Luckily, he didn’t have to wait long for Gunn to speak again.

“Is it me or are you and Spike not trying to kill each other so much the last few days?”

“Really? I hadn’t noticed.”

“You seem so mellow all of a sudden. What happened?”

Angel really didn’t like people asking personal questions. What should he do to get Gunn of his back? He thought about playing the ignorant; he was good at that. He thought about diverting Gunn’s attention elsewhere, but where? And then what? He thought about lying, but in the end he couldn’t be bothered to think something up. He might as well tell the truth. That would probably be the fastest way to make the questions stop anyway.

“Sex.”

“You got laid?! Who’d you have sex with? Nina wasn’t here, right? And what does it have to do with Spike? Did he have sex too?”

Angel waited for Gunn to connect the dots.

“Wait, what? You and Spike?!”

Angel didn’t feel the need to say anything.

“Woah, really? I hadn’t seen that coming! Although, on second thought, it does make some weird kind of sense. Huh.”

There was silence for a while, as Gunn was trying to wrap his mind around this new revelation. Eventually, he seemed to have come to a conclusion.

“As much as I hate saying this: you should do it more often. The whole atmosphere is better around here.”

Angel couldn’t help but smile at that. This time, he did reply, echoing his earlier answer regarding the case files: “I’ll see what I can do.”

“Okey-dokey. You do that.”

“Yeah.”

“Right. I’ll be going then.”

Gunn left Angel’s office, muttering something under his breath about crazy vampires and their crazy habits. Angel noted that Gunn had forgotten to leave his papers on the desk. He wondered whether Gunn would come back once he realized that. He didn’t count on it. This conversation had left Gunn rather flustered, it seemed. It might take him some time to process. Ah well, Gunn was gone for now. In the meantime, Angel could get back to his work. And so he did.

Um, yes, sorry, this doesn't have much of a point to it. Just a plot bunny that had to be followed.

EDIT: Because this ending is a little bit abrupt, I am working on a second part to remedy this. With a bit of Spike in it.

EDIT 2: The second part is finished. It can be found here. Also, I've changed the heading of this fic accordingly.
